Just bought a Baby Gar...not a true Gar..lol

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How Did the feeding went? I bought one yesterday and will have four more coming soon. A friend gave me a little tip on feeding. If they are in groups it will probably easier to get them off livefood since they have to compete for food. Just threw a feeder in the tank, and then another one, next you throw a piece of tilapia or such in. Eventually you skip the feeders and just feed them "dead" food.

Btw, I keep mine with a BGK without any problems so far, the knife is about 15 cm.

Hujetas do well in small schools (3-5)

I have 3 and and they grow quickly up to about 5'' and then all most stop. It took my female 2 years to go from 6-8''. The big one keeps dropping eggs in the tank every few months and that is why i bought the other 2. I have had all of them together for a year now and no offspring. They say that sexing is impossible so i may have 3 females. When they were young they would eat 3-4 guppies a day. But now they might eat 1 2-3'' minnow every other day. i have them in with 5 barracuda's of all different species and they do well together.----------Good luck
