Just filled my tank... why is it cloudy?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It has been about 24 hours now and it is still the same. I haven't used Prime in my tank yet and it does have a chlorinated smell. Could this be a problem? Should I dose my tank with Prime? I am on day two of Stability.

This is an AGA 210 by the way.

This tank is not cycled. I filled it for the first time yesterday.

You have to de-chlorinate most municipal tap water...
I have always had stock in my tanks when using "STABILITY"

Follow the directions on the bottle, it says to de-chlorinate the water first with Prime or equivalent... and the STABILITY you have added already doesn't count since there is still chlorine in the water...

If you use Prime or Amaquel to de-clorinate, your water will have a slight sulphur smell to it, at first.

one more thing...Shake, shake, shake, then shake some more, on the bottle of de-chlorinator and "STABILITY" it should be milky white...
good luck with your new tank, most folks new to the hobby start smaller, good to see you "jumped" right in...

well what kind of sand did you use. cause playsand will take a while to settle if not cleaned all the way will take a while. Thats what i like the pool filter sand for. settles over night and the catfish cant kick it up.

I thought that you had to fishless cycle the tank still while using Stability? I was going to wait a week or two? What should I do?

I just did water test BTW.

PH - 7.8
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0

This tank is going to house a smallmouth bass.

Temperature is about 72.

nice! that explains why I thought it was a 150 as your tank is the same as an AGA 150 only it is 6" wider.

I have a 150.

did I mention I am jealous with hate and envy? hahahaha

enjoy your awesome new tank!

Haha. Thanks! I have been planning this thing and getting everything ready for months!

I am using 3m colorquartz, but I washed it thoroughly before putting in my tank and the water ran clear.
