Well the scrawny one dies yesterday :( I figured that was going to happen and I tried everything I could. The other one looks like he is doing great though! I hope he makes it so I am not 0 for 2.
 
Yes I have quite a few bowfin and i have a few questions if anyone can help me. i have had them for about 4 days and all of a sudden they are dropping like fly's you can actually watch them and it looks like they have a seizure or a heart attack and then open there gills and rollover and die ANY HELP PLZZZZ

type in bowfin in the search and read my advice along with others on the board.

you need to make sure they are in a small enough space to get to their food. you need to feed them bloodworms 3 to 4 times a day so their bellys are always round. you need to make sure they are covered from site with lights low. you need to make sure there is enough water movement and surface agitation for good oxygenated water and you need to make sure the water is under 75 but even better around 70ish. oh yeah, they always need access to the surface because they are air breathers...
 
I think the surface agitation is why I am losing them I have some air stones but they dont seem to be crowding the surface like they where when i first got them

air stones are close to useless. you can actually watch them breath easier within minutes of agitating the surface...
