JUST HAD TO SHARE THIS "DIY"

That's wicked, I never thought of that. I got in on the $45 dollar AC110 deal and both the ones I ordered came in with cracked down tubes. I'll have to give that a shot. With shaving it down a little bit, I wonder if it could be made to fit under the factory cover.

tried and measured.. no bueno brother. the PVC is too thick. There was this PVC called " bendable pipe ". Im not sure if it was PVC but it was maybe 1.50 more expensive and, about only 5 ft tall. The thickness of the pipe was also way thinner, about half. so check it out.

I'll have a look-see. Could always heat the PVC a bit and squeeze it to get an extra hair of clearance.

Cool idea. I would worry with putting it across the top of the water like a spray bar might limit the amount of water movement in the tank.

I'd leave the suction down low. Do you mean the spray bar Suction at the top or bottom? I have a couple tanks (bare bottom) with that type setup. The holes in mine are small so they do clog easy.

If you still have the original intake strainer, it will fit on the 3/4" PVC if you wrap some teflon tape around the pvc. I made pvc extensions on both my AC110's because my tank is so tall. I used a 3/4" slip union to connect my DIY pvc extension to the original AC110 u-tube.

yes, I actually tried that and it does fit, almost. The effect i wanted to do is relay the reverse spray bar along the bottom but on the other side of the tank to creat a better flow.

The output of the AC is so hard that the water comming out is just cycled right back into the down pipe suction.

So that being said.. down pipe relayed to the corner left going down to the bottom of the tank, elbow going right, pipe extending parallel to the back of wall of the tank to the the far right side of the tank, thus sucking water on the other side of tank and the output on the left side of the tank.. get it ? ( Input on the right and output through the left!! ) jeez.

I know its alot of truoble. Your asking " why not ust get a power head.. " i want to get technical..haahaha. like others here. just a thought. :screwy:

I would make the holes amost the same circumferece as a bic led pencil.

I dont know if this would work. But, instead the down pipe going down, what would you guys think if i made it run across parallel to tank and drill holes like a spray bar, but instead of output hole its an input hole. I was just imagining, it would give my Gar more room. What do you guys think?

Wouldn't that make for poor water flow?
