did you know theres HUGE chunks of metal flying over yer house 24 hours a day just waiting to come crashing down and explode you to bits... and that the very earth on which you live is just wizzing around space with billions of way bigger rocks just waiting to crash into us and smush us all... and that if you sneeze while eating a spoonful of icecream you could stab yourself in the brain.....
Thanks everyone who gave useful comments. I'd also like to say, for those who are gonna troll the topic and insult people, I'd appreciate of you dont post here.
I think you guys misunderstood what I was asking. Im not sitting here waiting for it to happen. Im just asking for opinions and just how strong tanks really are. Look at 12 volt mans post, thats the kinda responses I am looking for.
i worry about the same thing you do. i know silicon is strong and all, but the thought of it holding back hundreds of gallons of water, can very easily make you quite worried.
i dont think anything anyone says could reassure me, i just keep thinking theres millions of other tanks out there that dont fail and hope that settles me in some
Thats funny that you posted this topic bc I was just thinking about that scenario yesterday like it would be so gross to have fish water come out all over your floor and with hearing a few stories on here, ie the person who got robbed and the aholes actually smashed their tanks ;( that is so wrong!! I dont sit around worrying about it but I have 10 tanks in my living room so the thought has definitely crossed my mind!!
The current way that they are made has been relied upon for quite a while now. They used to have a metal frame but you can only find those in flea markets now.I have a 125 that has been has been in use in my home for ten years at least, and that was given to me used.I also have a 55 that was given to me that has no cross brace and it still has its shape.Having said all of that all of my big tanks are in my basement where there is a drain in the floor.
