Kamfa.. Should I get it?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All designer fish are gentically weaker. Breeders of flowerhorn do not focus on disease resistance or overall vigor when attempting to wow the world with their latest greatest new strain of fish. The same could be said for a number of designer fish where the latest new colors, patterns, fin length, nuchal hump size, etc. are what is driving the market.
In flowerhorns this has caused a major decline in overall vigor, and lifespan, where now a days you're lucky if an Asian bred flowerhorn from Thailand, Taiwan, or Vietnam will live past 3 or 4 years. The same could be said for some of the newer strains of discus, Water. ;)

IMO the $120 price tag is very fair, locally, or not. It looks to be a very nice kamfa with great potential.

@Chris: I wouldn't mind going out like that ;)

I could always get wild Discus.. ;D If I get this Kamfa.. I'll be losing about 40 bucks or so.. I have like 30 Cardinals in my tank to keep the tank cycled LOL

I'm not a hybrid keeper but the fish looks nice, however judging from what I read in this thread I'd save your money. I agree with RD. the newer strains of desinger discus are in the same genetic boat. The market is driven by looks not health.

Looks like a good fish but since the guy is too lazy to come up with photos/video I wouldn't bother helping him out. Tell him $80 and you will buy it in sepetember when he still hasn't sold it. It probably came from chonburium and has all sorts of defects, weak genetics, and with white eyes there's no way its fertile. Keep looking for something more unique.

Funny thing is.. I asked him whether or not he got this fish from Chon and he said he got it from some other Thai breeder. Didn't really give me a name lol. This kamfa looks like a real stunner.. but the guys not cooperating with me.. What a shame lol
