I know this is possible because I have seen plenty of pictures, but can anyone share advice of how it is done best? I would really love to do a tank like this. I would also like to keep a tig in the same tank, is this possible?
Thanks

Use adult discus. Keep the water pristine as the discus need it the aro won't mind. Sorry don't know about the tig.

yep! it can work :)

also, what do you mean by pristine water, will the aro be agressive towards the discus?

how big is the tank gonna be? I would go for a black arowana instead of a silver. On second thought, i'm not sure about the tig. Maybe if the discus are all pretty big...

depends on the individual fish.. but I would absolutely say go! will look real clean and the odds are VERY good for it to work..

I have a 3 inch chain loach with my 14-15" aro and there are no problems what so ever! even small tetras works..

go for adult discus, they grow pretty big and have a shape that is hard to swallow.. so I would guess that if it is a small tig it will work!

yeah, the tank will eventually be 300-400 gal. I did a test in a 100 gal with an aro, tig and 3 discus, and after about two weeks the discus looked so sick, all my levels were fine, but I have a feeling the tig was harrasing them at night. The aro would occasionally chase after them, but mainly left them alone. Also, I have heard blacks are more aggressive than silvers?
