Kid safe wet pet for a 75.

with Oscars its luck of the draw. I had two, one was like a puppy. the other one would bite me on purpose. didn't matter if it was feeding time, if I was doing a water change, whatever. if my hand went in the tank, it would sneak up and chomp on my hand or arm.

got my kid's finger once and drew a bit of blood. on the upside, she doesn't put her hands in aquariums anymore. :D

Mine used to be okay until I accidentally hit it with the gravel vac haha now it tries to attack that every time.

it was all swollen and black and blue maybe bled a bit from tiny teeth but not a lot really

Haha that's a shame but hilarious

*wrong quote! Was referring to the Oscar and gravel vac!

I would say a Senegal bichir. Mine is always swimming around the tank. And when I come home from work or just sit down next to the tank he's right there at the glass.

bonsai flowerhorn pair

I think I would take your child to the LFS and see what grabs his/her attention, he/she might end up being interested in Africans or tropicals.

peacock eels are just the same but max out at 12 inch...

What age kid are we talking about? Worrying too much about the type of wet pet may not really be an issue (not saying go buy Piranha)...but I was introduced to "Monster Fish" at the age of 7 by a family friend that kept Snakeheads and big New World Cichlids. I was taught to respect what they can do, and how to work safely around them. I got a few nips (blood drawn and a bit of a scare) but never enough to do real damage. Don't miss out on a chance to get them hooked on this hobby for life, let them choose.
