if these fish are not hard to breed, then these fish are not gonna be in the endangered status, if what you said about that old article that you had read is true then we already have bunches of them. if you think sexing these fish are easy, then you already have a pair even they are small. even asian arowana farmers are not 100% sure about the sex of their fish unless they saw it brood and lay eggs. and about breeding in a tank you said, i think only less than 5 people are successful in making their arowanas spawn and most of them are asian people in asian country
If I used the term 'hard to breed' then that was a poor choice I should have used the word impossible. If someone wanted to do the research and learn the process and use the proper furnishings it could be done in probably any warm climate, fish habitats are replicated the world over.So there are five or less people supplying the world with legal aros, then theres the problem, monopoly it wouldnt do this group any good to let others in what they are doing and making soo much money off of.Palms are being greased somewhere.

instead of killing arowana those people should be killed who give such order and all of them associated with this

well i understand that morphs are technically the same species as wild but it still baffles me that we can't have them when they're technically not wild. they wouldn't release color morphs into the wild so let us have them and the wild ones can stay wild. we establish a few farms here in the southeast and whammo we're fine and tyhe wild ones are still in the wild.

Aren't there a greater number of farms than that?

Americans, we all place these prestigious "asian aro" on the the thrown. Dont worry they will be legal one day.

hope they will be legal

so how can you breed these asian arowanas?

ok I didn't read the whole post it was starting to hurt my eyes. but this is what i don't understand so maybe someone on here can tell me more. the Asian aero is band forsale in the USA. now is possession also band? Because once you get it into the usa tuff luck. I won't let them in my house even with a warrent.

but now talking about the sale of these fish. Now there mostly born on farms, right? and they have an offical there from cities to varify that they are the fish are what there supposed to be and right away get a chip. now those fish are not coming from the wild there being farm raised so why are they illegal. what should be illegel is the wild versions of these fish the ones that don't have a chip and that easy to do they all get check at the border coming in or you have to have a special permit to do so.

now lets say that they were allowed forsale today. how many people do you think can actally afford one anyway. i'm sure a few but not many. And if there afraid of someone getting tired of having the fish and want to get rid of it. trust me they won't throw a 1-5K+ fish in the pond or stream in their back yard. so i think it goes beyond what a lot of people think. i believe it has to do with the govt. and some kind of trade agreement and there isn't one that can be agreed on. you can blame cities or something but I think it goes way beyond that. think about it all these years and we still don't trade with Cuba why not. don't they have something to trade besides cigars..

Owning them is illegal. I've seen a few for sale though in chinatown and one in brooklyn haha. Trust me it was very tempting to shell out the dough for one but it's not worth going to jail over a fish (yes even an asian arowana).
