I feel pretty safe in my American household bathroom, thank you.

But, if I was gonna poo where I knew there were animals known to predate upon people, I would thank my lucky stars if my parents DID stick close by :)

Whatever the argument may be, it's a child being killed. why in the world would you "cheer" for that and say he "deserved" it?

He was simply using the necessities, not as though he went out looking for these monitor lizard. It was a tragic incident, and you guys are here saying such unimaginable things.

THAT doesn't make any sense to me.

"There are an estimated 3000 Komodo dragons remaining in the park and surrounding areas, and although they are known to be vicious and aggressive, fatal attacks on humans are rare."

If the above info is true and there have been attacks would you as RESPONSIBLE parents let your children wander of into these areas?...this is not detroit were a human fires the gun, just cause he didnt like the way you looked..these are animals with instincts and teritories that you can avoid...again something that could have been avoided with better parenting..

YEP! Where the HECK are the parents?

MIL - with all due respect, would you let your child wander off where there were large predatory animals in the *immediate* vicinity?

slighly similar story here in Cali... but with the most aggressive animal in all of Cali... the automobileis carus

im trying to find the written story but i dont htink they have it up

-so i heard from my boss today that there was a fire on the 5 freeway, and one of our customer has a maitenance guy who cleans his tank and he has an a young kid (about 7-10). So the maitenance guy and his kid were going down the freeway and the kid ask to stop and watch the fire so being a "nice" dad he slows down. Now this part is a bit akward and is the reason why im trying to find the written news report, but the kid ran out the car and around to the other side of the freeway and was hit..... and demolished for lack of a better word. The dad was in shock and now my customer has to learn how to take care of his tank

:( the parent has lost its meaning

Pronunciation: 'per-&nt
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French, from Latin parent-, parens; akin to Latin parere to give birth to
1 a : one that begets or brings forth offspring b : a person who brings up and cares for another

yeah americans are great at bring forth offspring but the care part is where we are lacking

infact parents seem to be cursing to thier child alot more..... and the parents tend to be teenage parents

Guys, the kid was 9 years old. as stated, a local, possibly without toilet facilities and most probably the chances of the Komodo being there were the same a bear being in your vicinity..must have been looking for trash..

I can never understand people "understanding" the killing of a child....

komodos dont eat trash

they eat all carrion (fresh or rotten meat) and also hunt there prey when the opportunity arises. and humans are on the menu, if its meat, its edible. once that forked tongue locks into hunt mode thats pretty much it. not to mention a mouthful of serated teeth and bacteria that can kill by infection.

"Miguel, I think the term "National Park" somewhat misdirected Santoury, the key is to know that not al National Parks are created equal... Here in Peru is normal for kids, teens and adults to get mauled/biten/eaten inside National Parks, it´s just that the natives are constantly exposed to the risks so it´s a matter of time."

what?! :WHOA: i hope they got a refund or at least free passes...

All the more reason for parents to be vigilant.... erggghhhhh

What's that? Where's this NATIVE common sense? That I just don't get.
So, in essence, the kid died, suffered, lost his life, because his parents didn't act appropriately. Especially where predators are concentrated!
