Does anyone keep these fish? If so, what can you tell me about them?

I fell in love with these guys when I saw them on this YouTube video and I managed to track down four adults. :D They will be here tomorrow.

I hope these guys don't try to kill each other like my Laetacara did at sexual maturity. It'd be nice to spawn them and get some fry circulating around.

wow good stuff Ryan! where are you getting them from?

Ken Davis. He got the adults from a guy named David in NC. I'd messaged David on Cichlid Forums about them and he said occasionally he had fry for Ken. It turns out that Ken picked up some young adults from him last week. He had planned to keep them for himself but they're in the mail as we speak.

Lucky me. :D

I've had them several times, David may have gotten his from me originally, not sure, I've had seevral breeding pairs in the past, they are a fairly peaceful fish, never had any troubles with them, these 4 have been in with some of my discus for about a month. Good luck. Ken

Definately a cool fish. I think dogofwar has some if I remember correctly. Seems like he had a male in the show at the ACA but I could be getting that mixed up.

Yes - I have a pair and an extra male.

They're not aggressive fish...maybe the males on the females a little during breeding... They'd probably eat tetras or any fish that they could fit in their mouths but I wouldn't call them hunters either.

Mine have bred for me a few times (in a flowerpot) but lose their free swimmers to the community tank they're in (some acaras, chanchitos, etc.)...

Matt

Hopefully they'll be here soon! I'll post some pictures once they get settled and I put them in something other than a QT tank.

Good luck ryansmith ... we deffinately need more of these out there. Both these xingu and those new bluefaced Krobia are beautiful fish. And two that can help get acaras out and more in the limelight.
