Krobia sp. 'Xingu'

Are you sure they are K. itanyi and not Krobia guianensis dogofwar? K. itanyi is from the same remote area as Geophagus surinamensis and Guianacara geayi are from.

I kept Krobia 'xingu orange spots' years ago and i really miss them. These are beautifull fish to keep. A little shy at times, but stunning little gems all the same. I had mine for around 4 years and they grew to a little over 5" TL before i moved them on to a friend who still has them!
I look forward to more updates, and hopefully some spawning pics Good luck.

So I'm going to boost this thread with a question for other Krobia keepers.

My four Xingu have been in my 150 for several months now and they seem to have topped out at around 5" or so. Is there any reason that I can't keep these four fish in a 55 gallon tank? It'd be cozy, but I don't think it's too small. What do you think?

Things in my 150 tend to be pretty active and the Krobia seem a bit shy. They hang out in one side of the tank near my filter intake and avoid interacting with my severums and Geos. It seems that maybe they'd be happier in a quiet, calmer, darker tank with maybe some small tetra dithers or something.

Maybe I should look for a used 75g instead? I'd like to add some nice driftwood and fake plants to give them some privacy and maybe they'll feel comfortable enough to pair off and spawn.
