Awesome idea, but you may have to go with something other than a lace if you plan on housing many species together. Unless the tegu is a full grown male I'd say that the Lace monitor might be a little too dangerous to keep around it. That's just my speculation though. Tegus are a lot bulkier and, I'd imagine a lot stronger than most monitors of equal length, but still... lace monitors are pretty big.
i would have separate enclosures for each. i dont think a lace and a tegu would be happy in the same enclosure due to climate requirments.
but i hope to have 2 tegus.
and if i found a pair of laces i would def try to breed them. but it seems when you find them they are not cheap at all.
i guess i should look into other options.
what other monitors are similar? i really like how the laces dont get really fat. they keep that sleek look and most seem pretty easy to calm. not tame but at least not trying to kill you when you go to clean there cages.
what do you guys think?

You could go with a argus monitor, its a easy species to work with as far big monitors go.

what about mangrove monitors?

water monitor would be good, or something similar, just don't overfeed it

mangroves are skittsh and far from nice
!
Id go with an argus for sure!

Mainland water monitors get huge and even tho its one of the most mild mannered species a bite from a big one is very dangerous, easily rip a finger of. They also require room size enclosures, much more demanding then a tegu or even a lance monitor.

i really dont mind a room size enclosure. or a tempermental animal. i have seen alot of stereo types proved wrong. i really want somethin unique. somethin that you dont see on every other add on kingsnake. ya know. they lace are really amazingly patterned also. and the mangrove are also very pretty and unique.
latshki, do you have experience with mangrove monitors?

Rough neck monitors is a great species to keep as well. Have you considered a caiman lizard?

I havnt own any mangroves but I have been around a buddy of mines one as well as a few we had at the pet store I used to work with
I know it's not a lot but the coupled with what others have said seem to support the fact that they are reclusive

have you thought about flavies?
or griseus?

Hello from Australia Lace Monitors are great, if you get them small and gently "train" them they can be an amazing pet very intelligent but they will attempt to eat your other monitor ,cat, dog, children ect, so they are best kept alone or with others of their own species and size.
They do require a very high temp and a large enclosure, but if you are willing to put in the work they are awesome , there is also a color called "Bell's Phase" which has an even more striking coloration.
