This guy has heaps of videos on training lace monitors his methods are very effective excuse his language but he is Australian after all. This video is just a bit of fun but if you check the rest of them out they have some great info that can be applied to any of the varanus monitors.

thats interesting lat, i just like to hear peoples experiences. i will check those 2 out tho :D
n yea i have watched almost all of snakemans or guys whatevers videos of his lace its awesome. have you seen them available around you geoey?

Unless you live in Australia, have the money to build a massive enclosure and can afford to feed them as they eat a lot then no, keeping a Lacey isn't possible, if you want a varanid, start with a ackie (Varanus acanthurus).

last year i was lucky enough to rescue a Juvenal lace monitor from being killed by a cat, cleaned its wounds and kept it for just over 3 months before releasing it in to a nature park. Was quite an experience and he grew and ate really well.

i can build any enclosure and can afford to feed anythin. my pets are my life. i dont go out and drink or party all my money goes to my pets. the only prob i am having is not living in australia ;(
akies are small. im not lookin for anythin small. i talk to a few people that i know and they say from there experience that mangroves seem to calm down better that argus.
so if anyone could help me with those 2 it would be great. has anyone owned one or the other? or both?

i did see a lace in a since closed shop near my house a few years back, I don't remember the exact price but it was really expensive, at least $10,000

Mate of mine owns a fair few of them actually.

They were all wild caught at young ages, most of them have great tempermants on them unless you catch them on a bad day.

He has them in a specially built pen on his property. They eat like no other large monitor I've ever seen.

Its not to uncommon to see them in some areas of Australia when your out camping and whatnot. I've actually had one bail me up a tree. Also, if your keeping more then one try not to get two males and one female. Otherwise your vet bills will be huge.

There a tricky pet to have, but I've seen some of the stock you and your wife have ;) so I think it'd be possible.

i want one so bad!! but it seems to be unrealistic to get one :( im not rich in any way so spending over a grand for a lace monitor just wouldnt work out bc i know an enclosure (a proper one) will cost about 500, the way i would want it. im thinkin my budget for this whole project is a thousand at the most. so i think im goin to have to look into argus or mangrove or another similar monitor
thanks for everyones help so far

Are they still legal to export from Australia o.0?

Because if they are, you might be able to get them from over here for pretty cheap compared to over there. But P&H would be a bit.

Also hows your boss' tiger going?

idk. i was wondering about that myself. that would be awesome.
boss' tiger?
