Did'nt you & your wife look after your boss' tiger for a few weeks or something o.0?

lol. not that i remember. im actually not married, engaged tho. was there someone else with a similar name as me?
i have another question tho, has anyone kept there monitors in an outdoor pin? here in texas the temps get pretty hot in the summer and seem similar to where these monitors are from. i just figure if i could have a huge summer enclosure for my monitor it would be the best (natural light and all) any concerns with that?

Well I use celcius and they like temps at around 40-50 degrees celcius. So it just depends if it gets that warm in Texas.

is that basking surface? or ambient temp? i know it stays around high 80s-100s about may-oct here. oh and 40 degrees is 104 in fahrenheit

Goannas' can be just as good looking as Lace monitors to. But they grow a bit bigger and a bit bulkier and their tail is just as deadly as there mouth.

I got clipped by a goanna tail when I was staying in Coral Bay once, they have heaps there I got a bit to close to one and what followed was instant bruising and I could hardly walk on my leg for a good 3 days.

Hey Mishy, Goanna is the Aussie term for Monitor with covers all speices. Scalesandfins, if i were you id start with a small monitor but its your call.

If you really want a Monitor your best bet is private breeders, ask around of reptile forums, maybe gecko forums for anyone who breeds monitors.

Cheers-

dang thats intense man.
yea i think those are a little bigger than what i am lookin for.
perentie, i dont really want a small monitor. but not a monster either. the 5-6 ft range is managable i also want a leaner monitor not real bulky. i prob sound really picky but if im goin to get an animal that takes such dedication im goin to be picky.
what monitors do you have experience with perentie?

There was a great guy that bred most of the lances in the US, the owner of Goanna Ranch, I beleave in Texas. I think he doesant breed them anymore but you could allways contact him, you dont loose anything for it, he usually hangs on Kingsnake these days.

his name is frank retes. but do you know if he has a web site? i cant find any info on him
