Lacerdae hoplias ID?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's obvious they are lacerdae though, the amount of green on them is just unmistakably lac let alone it's other physical features

Yea just noticed the green on them. Didn't notice until mentioned. That's an interesting feature of them for sure. I remember seeing exoticgreen's lac and was surprised at the color. Awesome fish.

Creni - the pic of mine you posted is definitely one of Wes's fish. I can tell by the back hump.

I received the second "F"ed up "replacement" order from Ken this morning. I'll post jaw shots tonight but to me they look nothing like what Wes just posted.

The "Green Lacs" of Kens have really round heads and a straighter back then Wes's. I really don't think they're Lacs. Too many obvious differences NOT even taking jaw lines into account.... BUT I'll post the pics and let you guys decide for yourselves.

Alright sounds good Alan. I'd like to see them. I honestly don't think kens are lacerdae either but I may be wrong if Uruguayan lacerdae are different morphologically to Argentina lacs so my opinion is kind of irrelevant I really don't know much about hoplias as I've said before I've never even kept one lol. Me and wes talked about the fish in question at the start of my thread and I've come to the conclusion that I think it'd be better to get one from wes instead.....

Wes actually cares if his customers are happy. Ken could care less. He sits there reading facebook messages then takes a few days to reply but the trick is you have to talk about money exchanging hands before he'll reply.

The guy sent me a friggin gutted fish, played dumb about it. Said he'd send 2 replacements and eat shipping when he had more in 2 months. Fast forward 2 months and he claims the promise of 2 was a typo, then claims the ones he now has are so much bigger that we should be more then happy with 1. Well I saw a few catfish I wanted so what the heck right lets give him another shot - he sends 1 said the other died then sent 2 other goofy looking catfish instead. Guess what? The wolf he sent first is almost big enough to eat the one I received today. Has he responded to 1 message after explaining the fish we wanted "died"? Nope. Did he read it? Yup, minutes after it was sent. I'd never recommend doing business with this guy to anyone.

Makes me wonder if these overpriced Malas that he's been peddling as "Green Lacs" didn't lead to why he only exists on book face now instead of fish forums where most vendors thrive???

This all really sucks cause I'd love to go on one of those fishing trips down there, but would be pretty tough to justify after being treated like this.

What I do is ask a hundred questions and spam him works fine by me. Usually get a reply by that day. I was actually gonna get the gold pims but they were "sold" lol. He listed them at 2 inches so they're tiny. He also tends to overestimate the sizes of his fish I got some 2.5-3 inchers and only one is 2.35 ish a couple are under 2 inches. Luckily I expected that and had a growout tank ready. For me he's the only person that you can actually get wild caught Uruguayan crenicichla from so I don't really have a choice I guess.

He actually is a retired college professor and is thinking about starting up the importing business again he used to be on here awhile ago.

As for his trips well everyone like them

I don't know about Ken's fish, I have nothing good or bad to say about him., yet. I generally try to stay out of other people's business unless they provoke me. But here are some more different angles of the lacerdae green I have,. different fish, different angles.

The two that I sent DB are different, those came from Rio Parana, those are rarer, more expensive., and have a longer face and head...IMG_7135.JPGIMG_7136.JPGIMG_7137.JPGIMG_7140.JPG

Wow.... Geez wes those look sweet... I think I've come to the conclusion of adding one to my order I think... Do u have any pretty good pics of the cf. parana? I wasn't very impressed with the pics of them as much as these guys u just posted although I love wolves with the long snout... Some really good pics can change my mind ya know... People need to jump on these if Argentina is closing its borders.... I regret not getting certain Brazilian fish when I had the chance I'd pay 8x more now from were hey used to go for
