Well as title says yes the super and property manager is driving me crazy. Tomorrow im having people come in to fix my mold problem thats going on. ( over a year later)But they keep making me feel like its my fault because i have 2 fish tanks and a total of 8 house plants through out my apt. I try and tell them that the mold was here when we moved in, that i noticed it on my daughters windowcill. Anyways the mold is in my living room, daughters room and my bedroom, The fish tanks are in my living room but the space is large. Also the mold is only on the windows which they JUST finished fixing the roof cause i guess it has leaked for years and ever since its been fixed the moisture hasnt been on the windows. Ive added some pics and definitly notice my daughters room which i have now moved her bed into my room because her room is soooooo bad.The wall is now falling apart and everything. But my main question is ...is it really me thats causing the mold, i understand mabey helping it but causing it????? I use to live in a basement apt and had 21 tanks and never had mold issues.

If it was there when you moved in then you're not the cause - but evaporation definitely helps it grow.

You don't really need to pay anyone to get rid of it, if your landlord isn't covering the charge.

Get a sponge and some bleach water, scrub out the mold and air dry it with a hair dryer, then throw some Killz Primer over the affected areas.

There is one kind of mold that will cause cancer. I don't know which one or how to identify it but just having any on the walls is a concern.

I would say that it is time to move if you have the ability to.

If you stay where you're at, a dehumidifer may be something to consider. At the very least it could convince your landlord that the tanks aren't the cause. I don't think the tanks are the cause, the landlord is looking to assign blame when he needs to buck up and take care of the problem.

Sounds like youyr landlord is jerk, If possible I would try and find a place to move if you cna't I would try and use the bleach water and sponge and get a dehumidifier that way once you scrub it out it will have a harder time returning

Thanks guys, id love to move right now but im pregnant and have a 2 year old and Christmas is right around the corner. Im planning on moving anyways after the baby is born but i need it fixed now because of the pregnancy. Also when they were fixing the roof i could here things falling through the walls so i think there its tells me theres no insulation and also i just talked to my neibour and he said the reason there ficing the roof finally is because he called the city and has mold really really bad and for 2 years has had a leak where when it rains hes dumping buckets every hour. And here i thought i lived in a great place, the veiw was beautiful and the hardwood floors were gorgus lol but the property manager suxs.
Also i wrote the uper a note this morning to please give me a time there comming so my husband could be here to watch the dog cause im sure i cant be in here while its being fixed and he told me they might not even come tomorrow if they get emergency calls, so i think im going to call the city and then theyll have an exact date it has to be done by.

Also i do have a dehumidifyer, ive been running it since sept once it started to get cold outside is when the mold returned cause last yeari did the bleach thing and it was gone untill them oisture came right back during the cold months. I think theres no insullation in the windows.

Sorry for your situation. I've used Killz before and it works wonders if you do a bleach scrub down and then dry it really well first. But, since you're pregnant, don't breathe in the fumes from the Kilz. Anyone else who could do it for you?

Yes my husband can do it.

I just got in a huge fight with the super because he says the guys might not come in tomorrow but i let him know im having the city come in because i want them to test the wall inmy kitchen for it too cause you cant see mould but the last 3 weeks my kitchen smells like poision and thats where when they were working on the roof you herd things falling inside the walls.

Hello and Congrats to both of you on the Baby:D

When I first bought my house, there was mold in it. The roof leaked and the walls had would sometimes cry water from the ceiling (it was weird cause it was under the paint:screwy:... kind of creepy:WHOA:)

I got some windex and started scrubbing... it took a while but got most of it done. If im not mistaken, Mold effects our lungs or imune system in general (atleast that was all it took to get my butt up to clean the stuff).
We actually tryed to make it fun... I told the kids (2 girls 5&8 at the time) we were going to clean the walls and for every spot they cleaned I would give them 10cents... they went to town and I ended up giving each one 20bux (we didnt even count) and they made the best of it:D

Later we remodeled and took care of everything.

I would take pics before you scrub them or try to remove them so incase of anything you have proof.

A side note... if you plan to paint, dont bother with any of the "Mold resistant junk" (powder packs to add in the paint) that Local Hardware places try to sell you. Just wipe down the walls every few months or whatever time frame the Mold tells you.

G/L and hope you have a quick delivery:headbang2
