A lot of it depends on what your price range is. For video and picture editing, you can't really go wrong with a Mac. The only problem with that is, you would pretty much have to pay an arm, a leg, and your firstborn. If you would want to go with a PC, I think this might be one of your best bets: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834146584 . If you have a different price range in mind, definitely let us know.

Think pads are good stuff, too.

If I was offered a MAC notebook for free, I'd buy an HP...
Sorry to all the mac lovers out there, but apple blows.
That's all I gotta say about that.

Because he said he wanted to do some video and picture editing. They also get pretty decent battery life.
Yeah but there arent any decent games released on mac. Its a big downfall for me, since I play games all the time.

Well, when I custom build one, whether it's on Dell, HP, Gateway websites..... I always end up in the $1500-2000 range. I don't go for the best in every option but I don't go for the cheapest either.

I do like the 1080p option, blue-ray player, 1GB graphics card......

question, what's the difference with the Blue-ray ROM and the Lightscribe Blue-ray ROM?

And why do people say mac? He said he wanted to play games. Macs are great, but not for gaming.

Exactly what I was thinking. Gaming is second on his list while video editing is near the bottom. I didn't wanna say anything though, because some apple people tend to get very ... defensive :screwy:

Lightscribe is a more expensive option and a more pricey disk just because when you burn a Blu-Ray with Lightscribe, you have the option to laser engrave whatever you want on the front.

my y550 has the hdmi out on it. all i can say is it rocks hooking it up to my 1080p 48 inch tv to game.

you gotta realize who your dealing with;)..... what brand is y550?

Another question for anyone, and a dumb one at that.... If the screen of the laptop is only capable of say 720p, if I hook it up to my 52" 1080p, will the computer produce 1080p into my TV?

Nope. The graphics card will not be able to support a resolution that high. It would put out 720p provided you have a good connection though.
