Large Cichlid for a 180 gallon.

Sounds like you may like a big amphilophus or parachromis. They have a lot of "personality."

Check out Amphilophus chancho and hogaboomorum (they both get big) and something like the Honduran strain of Parachromis managuense (like Aquamojo's old pair).

If you go the flowerhorn route you will likely end up with one large male in a 180 gallon tank unless you want to use dividers all the time.

I would love a large high quality flowerhorn. How big do they get?

Depends on the strain, males generally max out at 12", but there are some that can reach 14-15". But as clockwork stated, chances are you will only be able to keep a single male in that 180 due to their hyper aggressive behaviour.

If you want a single large outgoing personality type of fish, you can't go wrong with amphilophus.

i checked out the chancho and the hogaboomorum. They have no color. I know I am asking for alot but I would like a colorful fish that gets big and has the personality to boot.

I go with a festae for at least one fish.... I just ordered 6 festae fry at half inch.... Gonna wait until I can sex them take a female out and sell the rest to local fish store.... They are stunning, i think..... I would love to keep a breeding pair of them but I'm not gonna overstock my tank... I also have a jag that I'm growing out and he's pretty cool.... Not alot of color but neat pattern and pretty fun to watch

I have a Dovii in a similar tank,He Ffys up and down the tank trying to eat anything within 3ft of the tank, i will try a female in there with him when I get the chance. He killed his last partner before I got him. ?An awesome fish to watch and a great one or two fish per tank option.
