large fish with oscar

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I guess I am old fashioned and keep a Jack Dempsey as my Oscars little pet. They get along fine and the JD adds a little sparkle to the tank.

And as far as people being rude in here.... I tried a different form on a different site and I don't go in there any more.....So far everyone here has been pretty helpful to me and most of the posts are fairly informative. I believe that what ever someone wants to keep in their tanks together is his/her own choice as long as it does not cause harm to the fish.

Other fish sites don't necessarily suck, they just don't have nearly as many cool people and I have yet to meet a "fish snob". As long as your fish are healthy and you do your due diligence, do what you want dude.

Its difficult to get an oscar to accept a tankmate after hes grown. But redtail sharks plecos and larger cats are good choices. In a 75g probably just a large redtail shark or similar or a pleco.I tried silver dollars with mine and he went nuts.

I disagree... my two oscars (both 1.5 years old and 13") have not had any problems with the fish that I add to my tank. I believe that I have only lost one yellow lab in the time that I have had them and believe me they love live food. I believe that as long as you have sufficient hiding spaces and the other fish respect the size and territory of the oscars you will not have a huge problem...
