And you'll be glad you did as soon as you have to handle it in a move...Large glass has the kind of weight that you set and leave there...Acrylic is tough and very lightweight compared to a glass of the same size, and easy to move...mrs.dayak;4786114; said:That's it...I'm going acrylic :X

Go to the www.harborfreight.com ( http://www.harborfreight.com/dual-cup-suction-lifter-46134.html ) site and search suction cup handles...get 4 of them so two strong people can have two grips each and you'll have no problem...the way they work, the lever on them is what creates the cup to concave causing suction. Make sure the glass is cleaned with alcohol and dry and the ones I got are rated at 125lbs ea, way more than the average human can lift with one hand...Dr_Shakalu;4784534; said:I need to move my 168 gallon glass tank from my basement to upstairs. It was a pain with 3 people to bring it down but I think it's going to be a really hard time even with 4 people to bring it up. Some of you said that they used sunction cups. Where can I find them to buy or rent and how do they work. I'm worried about the suction cups might pop off. The Doctor.
and it was still a pain I bet...taksan;4786159; said:Took 8 guys and a hydraulic lifting table to move my 570G

Not really sure what you are asking...you just attach them to the glass where ever you need a grip...you just put them on the clean glass, and lock the levers to create suction and the handles are stuck there until you unlatch them...put them on the front and back the ends what ever...depending on how wide of a doorway you need to go through the front and back or if the opening is narrow put them on the ends...whats nice is they are easy to detach and reattach if you need to change grip position...Dr_Shakalu;4787206; said:Where do I connect them to the tank?

How many kids has she had? 10 years ago i was working in one of norcal's leading horticultural nurseries slinging 20 gal balled and burlapped rhododendrens straight from high humidity quarantine on my own. 10 years, a career shift, and 2 kids later, a couldn't sling a 55 glass without the substrate without help.
God it sucks to admit (and you will all learn i rarely say "god" in any post or comment) but every year that passes wears me. Hard to admit cuz once upon a time i could shame the fittest of men in what i could accomplish in a day.
Now, however, i have to rely on teamwork for the simplest of tasks.
