3 kids total, 33 years old, years of manual labor...a 6 pack of beer will entice some of my stronger male friends and family into breaking their backs for me...lol. And i enjoy every minute of it, cuz while they're workin, i'm directing! Always had dreams of being a maestro
Ive moved two 125s and 220 glass no problems. The 125s were a piece of cake. we threw those things around like it was nothing with only me and 1 other guy. The 220 took 2 plus another guy "spotting" or whatever you want to call it if somebody needed help or a break.
It took 3 for my uncles 300 gallon acrylic. That was bad though cause the basement door it had to go through was only 4 feet tall so you had to try to lift the tank while bending over through the door which made it suck 10x more. Then like 15 stairs after the door.
Its so much easier if you have a straight and level path to move any size tank. Stairs and narrow doorways and bad angles make moving a b****.
How big are you guys? I can see 2 people moving a 125 gallon glass around but your 220 only took 2 to carry and 1 spotter? And only 3 to move an acrylic 300gallon. I wish you lived closer because I have a car blocking my driveway
I'm starting to wonder what the minimum is to happily house a silver arowana and 2 bichirs. Truly want to go big, but i'm looking at a long distance move in the next 3-8 years...and i'm impatient by nature, but would rather do a minimum now and save for an even bigger tank in the future.

I moved my 210 from my back porch to my living room with one other guy and our two wives as "spotters". It was only about a 30' move with one step up, but it really wasn't that bad.
I unloaded a 300 gallon acrylic (3/4" sides and top, 1/2" bottom) with two other guys. Again, it was a short move, but this one involved a few stairs.
I'm no muscle man. It is more a matter of carefully planning each stage of the move and doing some prep work. Clear the area, move furniture if it is at all in the way. Have some places to set the tank planned out so you can move it in a few short moves. Make sure your hands are clean and dry.
tell me about it. House any decent sized loricariids and you'll never buy an acyrlic tank again. Its light, but it scatches easy and pleco owners will be less than impressed by what happens when a good sized pleco gets ahold of acrylic.....
I was wondering which side to put them on, the front or the sides of the tank. Also was wondering how high up or down on the tank should I put them. I'm going to have 4 people moving the tank up a flight of stairs so how many suction cups should I get and where should I put them?
you'll need one per hand that is lifting and put them wherever they will be a good gripping spot...just use them like hands instead of an edge of the tank to hold onto stick them where the balance is equal and every bodies grip is the right height...
One question...What kind of Dr. are you by the way?

I'm not a real doctor, that's just my screen name. Dr. Shakalu is a character in the movie "Grandma's Boy" He plays a witch doctor from Africa who smokes pot. Actually, in the whole movie, everyone smokes pot. Check out the movie. Ironically, some of you know I'm a police officer but I still love this movie, The Doctor
