UMMMMMMMMM why can he not RETURN him ...YES he can ..yet i'd keep him

Unless he caught the fish from a private pond, he cannot return him "illegal public stocking". Is it all that hard to understand that native fish may have no natural immunity to foriegn diseases? Native Americans died by the hundreds of thousands from smallpox brought by Europeans. A native fish kept in a tank with a tropical could easily catch a disease and if released into public waterways, could potentially have the same devastating results.
That is just the tip of the iceberg on why one should not release fish, ther are numerous others, but I shall waste no more time as people who do not want to be educated will refute any viable piece of knowlege thrown their way.

yes I have been reading the laws and yes it is illegal to return a fish no matter where you got it or whatever. If the fish is removed from the body of water(leaving the lake onto land and going whereever) the fish can't be released anymore. yes taking the fish at the size I did is also illegal but I think me taking one 4 inch bass is a lot less damaging then people who catch 2 or 3 5lb bass and mount them. I will keep my fish in a tank and won't release it anywehre which will not cause any backlash..... if you don't agree with me then quite honestly don't read the thread. Chad and others thanx for the help....... although back to my question how is the best way to train them to eat pellets???? will they just except it????

Give it feeders, but do not dump 20 in at a time, give it one or two every other day. You want it to associate you lifting the tank top with food. Soon it will see you coming and anticipate a feeding. It will hit the feeders as soon as they hit the water. now is the time to start trying pellets. Let the bass get hungry, try pellets, try chopped shrimp. If it does not eat for a few, throw in a feeder or two. Repeat. Do not be afraid of withdrawing food for as long as a week, as long as the bass is in good condition, it should be able to handle it.
Bass are gluttonous creatures, and in my experience, are easy to convery to prepared foods.

I agree that his does look slightly like a spotted. But when I got mine that is also how it looked and actually had people tell me it WAS a spotted. I think it is possible that you have a spotted. That could be good news. I think spotteds stay smaller.
