large red oscar rescue.

As long as your tank has a flat bottom just cut it and lay it in, easy.... The reason I use it is for maintenance, looks OK with all the benifits of bare bottom... Will need adequate filtration as you lose all the surface area in and on the substrate for bb bacteria.

Nice job. I had a huge red Oscar 27 years ago and still have an affinity for them.

Oscars are awesome fish. Just a shame so many are sold without people knowing how to care for them.

I don't keep oscars but I agree. Large chain stores also don't properly list a good tank size, despite listing an accurate max size...

Nice save mate hes a beast :) im sure your water will sort out his health , just gotta hope yoyo plays nice lol

Yoyo was good lastnight mate, I think cause the o is so mellow, maybe he was just joining the chase when the butti was kicking off with that big hybrid I had... Well hopefully, was OK this morning when I checked although his tail had a mark, prob the wyckii in the night tho I would think...

What a great rescue! He will be so much happier in your tank. Are his tankmates playing nice with him? Love your Aro by the way.

I think he'll be ok once he gets settled like you say Oscars aren't really raging with aggression like Midas or most other big cichlids its dopey attitude could be its saving grace with yoyo being boss

Well I got home today and he has a bit of damage, nothing major but its touch and go now whether he will be divided off then found a home. Hopefully its the typical initiation into the group, he isnt swimming on his side in the top corner which is a good sign and I havent seen any aggression in the 35min ive been sat here so hopefully thats it, thinking about clearing out the white Midas soon anyway, these are who I suspect atm as the 10inch female had a pop last night, usually she is very mellow tho so hopefully like I say thats it.

Ah the good old initiation process , me and my mate call it the three day rule (doesn't apply to jardini as they kill randomly months later lol )
