Haha I wish. Compared to purchasing a glass or acrylic tank, building is so much cheaper. They want 20 grand for a 8 foot long, 4 foot high, 4 foot deep glass tank.. Insane!!Step one is start a gofundme and have everyone else pay for your tank![]()

I'd do plywood too, but I'm just concerned with the water pressure since it'll be a taller tank. Is there a height restriction with plywood?I recently got quoted £6000 for an acrylic 6x3x3. I've got the money but whichever way I look at it I just can't justify spending that much money on a fish tank. Glass tanks are way cheaper but they are just so damn heavy. I've got decent diy skills so everything's pointing at a plywood build for me.

Please share your build when you do it!
I'm a total overkill type of guy when it comes to stuff like this. I'm looking at maybe 6x3x3 so it's not that tall really. Even so, even though double ply with bracing will be fine, i'll guarantee i'll be beefing it up even more. I'll be going overkill on viewing panel thickness too. 12mm would be OK, i'll probably go 15mm.
I was thinking a glass window instead of acrylic. Is glass okay for 1000-2000 gallons? How thick does it need to be? Acrylic just seems way too expensive.
