what kind of tank mates does everyone keep with there lmb? i have a 12inch lmb that ive had since he was about 2inch and has lived by itself since it was about 3inches or smaller.. i want to introduce a new fish to his tank, about 2 weeks ago i got a 14inch chanel cat for 11.99 at my lfs and they did alright for the first 2 days then they dueled it out while i was sleeping and woke up to my bass half dead. i sold the chanel for 20$ on craigslist :naughty: my bass is almost completely healed other then his nipped fins. but i was wondering is my bass to aggressive to keep another fish with since hes lived by himself for almost his whole life? or was the chanel just a bad idea (2 people at the lfs said it would be fine). i was thinking a large pleco or something else that would help clean the garbage. any recomendations on what i should get? and what do you guys have in with your lmb? also if i got snails for the tank would my lmb eat the snails?

Your LMB is largeenough now to eatsmall mice and almost big enough for ducklings.
Channels can get aggressive and so can the bass.
About the only thing I personally would try to keep with it would be one of the carpsuckers (Carpoides) like a river (carpio), quillback (cyprinus), or highfin (velifer), or maybe a large Catostomus like the flannel mouth (latipinnis).
Remember though that the smallest of these the highfin, reaches 20". They should strt out larger than the bass and to reduce the chance of territorial aggression by the bass you should pull the bass out into a tub With a circukating pump) for a few hours and rearrange the tank a bit, then introduce the fish back into the tank at the same time.
LMB tolerate temps into the upper 80" but tend not to feed well that warm, mid 70s-low 80s is better. The others listed will also tolerate those temps.

i've kept lmb in temps as high as 82. i've kept them with everything from cichlids, arowanas, oscars, managuense's. they are LARGE MOUTH fish tho so do be aware that if it fits in the mouth, it'll probably get eaten. my friend has one with his peacock bass, his aro, and his bichir. all is well and the lmb is growing the fastest.

I have never tried it but I hear large cichlids work alright with LMB. Mine lives by himself though...

Nope never even owned a pacu in my life. But my bass was with a 7" bowfin up until a few days ago and my bowfin jumped ship! The bass and bowfin were a good combo for me but I am warning you that I was getting VERY lucky with these two and those kind of combos usually don't work out. It really depends on the individual fish. I have heard alot of people saying that thier bass are super agressive but mine is pretty chill. I think he would be fine with any fish his size. I was actually tempted to put a JD in there with him that was the same size but I was afraid of my BASS getting beat up.

also how big is everyone elses largemouth? and what size tanks do you keep them in? i plan on building a 6'X2'X2' for mine and getting a large arrowana to go in with it.. is the arrowana a bad idea?

Mine attacks fish that are smaller, leaves fish of equal size alone, and gets harssed by larger fish.

I have about a 5 incher in a 75 gallon right now. I have 3 more 2 inchers in there but its about time I decrease to one bass for that size tank. I'm looking to get a 200 - 300 gallon tank maybe this month so I can keep two or three.

no tank mates right now but If I get the 300 gallon I'd keep some pumpkinseed sunfish in there. (just have to make sure there big enough to not fit in the bass mouth.)
