Largemouth Tankmate

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ive got a lm about 10", and I keep it w/ an 8" smallmouth and a 4" bluegill. The lm tends to pick on the sm alittle (mostly just chasing, its never left a mark on it) and everything leaves the bluegill alone, and the bluegill leaves them alone. I also have about a 6" channel cat in there that also gets left alone. When my bass were about 6" they both ate 4" chubs that WERE tankmates for awhile lol

I did say SMALL mouse, that was not small, well maybe for a rat, try a deer mouse or a young domestic about 1?2 as big as that one.
You can also feed with anoles or garter snakes up to about 10"

that mouse was way to big, i dont care what people feed there fish as long as its humane, that mouse drowned before it was eaten which is not a good way to die, try hopper mice or fuzzies they are smaller and easier for the bass to eat because they cant fight back as much. Rodentpro.com has sizes of mice in all of its life stages to get you and idea.

Agreed, thanks for the link Buckeyenut, it is hard to find varied sizes in a lot of places.

I suppose drowning AND being swallowed whole by a bass is better.LOL!! :)

You're right to make sure that the bass can eat the food but there is not any "good/humane" way that any mouse used for that reason is going to die.

(very light hearted post, I'm not saying your wrong. :) :) )
