I have seen them for sale from to time.I might have to give them a closer look.

Friggin bummed out. Hit Lowes today and they don't have hardly anything at all left to even mark down. Only thing they had marked down were some little Mugo pines which make good bonsai, but they were tiny little 3/4" trunk guys and I don't feel like waiting 15 yrs for it to grow into workable size lol.

I made my rounds yesterday and have similar bad news. Lowes was desolate, but Home Depot was loaded on cool trees. Unfortunately, their trees and shrubs won't be on sale until late October.

I'm going to a bonsai club meeting on the 10th so I'm looking forward to networking and maybe getting my tanks on some new stock. I'm realizing the pines are my favorite, so I'd like to get a few more JBPs and a few whites and reds for good measure.

Cool,I didn't know you were in a bonsai club....wish we had something like that near me.

It'll be my first meeting. Its actually about 90min south of me, so it might be a decent drive for you too. Check out Deep Cuts Bonsai Club...they're affiliated with that nursery I told you about that I go to.

Yeah,I'd like to check out that place one of these days too.

Clubs are an excellent way to advance in the hobby. I've been into bonsai for about 6 years now and I just attended my first local club show about two weeks ago and was able to sit and talk with some guys in the club. I seriously think I learned more in the 3 hours talking with those guys than I did on my own the whole previous 6 years. My buddy and I are going to join our local club but we're waiting till January since membership runs calendar year.

I'm thinking about going back to Lowes today and picking up two of them little mugo pines. Figure I could always plant them in the ground for 3-4 years and speed up the trunk growth rate that way.

Well not a bonsai, but I couldn't pass this up for $1 at a yard sale today. I think the only reason I actually bought it was because I've had that pot for 3 yrs and it just doesn't have the look I like with a bonsai tree. So I used it for the cactus and I think it fits that look perfectly.

Well decisions decisions lol. This is my ***ein Tea tree. I started training it as an informal upright about 4 years ago them last winter for some reason it lost the only main branch on the right side of the tree. So I've been tryin to decide what to do with it all year. Finally today I repotted it at an angle and leaned it over into a slant style. I was going to keep the left branch at first, but now I think I am going to cut off the left branch as it competes too much from the main right lean of the tree. Once I do I may even lean it over further to the right by another 15-20 degrees.

has a lot of movement to the trunk as well

Nice looking tea tree and personally,I would leave the left branch on there.
