I caught this Slender Glass Lizard (Ophisaurus ventralis) when I was on vacation in North Carolina over the summer. I'm not gonna lie to you Jason, I almost kept him because he was so cool. You have to be very careful with Glass Lizards. Like their name implies, if you don't handle them gently, they can drop their tails in an instant. I believe this species can be kept similar to Alligator Lizards.

This guy was super friendly when I caught him. I just picked him up and placed him in a bucket to show my family and to get some pictures. I believe they are easily tamed, you just don't want to handle them much. They eat mostly insects and spiders. Sometimes small lizards and maybe pinkies. Unlike snakes, glass lizards can not consume prey bigger then their heads.

Yup, Anguis fragilis

These guys can occur in considerable numbers, with over 1,000 per hectare recorded in parts of Southern England, but with all reptiles, on the decline now. They eat mainly slugs and other inverts.

I think I've seen Lialis burtoni for sale in various places, and not very expensive, but I believe that species feeds mainly on lizards so would be a bit tough to manage. I've seen some giant glass lizards (sheltopusik) for sale occasionally, and they're supposed to be a better choice.

BTW that glass lizard is really cool, I'd have wanted to keep him too :)

I think that they're part of the skink family.
