If you are referring to the Glass Lizards they belong to the family Anguidae and skinks belong to the family Scincidae. They do look similar though with their shiny, smooth scales.
Yep. The American glass lizards and the Europeans (slowworm, sheltopusik) are more closely related to the alligator lizards than to skinks. I think there are some legless skinks though.
Then you've got worm lizards and that funky one with only front legs, I think classification has changed a few times on those; at one time I think they had their own suborder within Squamata, right alongside snakes & lizards.
well someplace i saw on google a guy was saying they think their is one that dosnt drop its tail, that would be sweet because of course i want to handle it.If i get something else i cant handle its gonna be something diferent. They sure seem cool to me though.Wow thanks for all the responses. You guys are great.Ill keep researching them.
When i worked at Petsmart, we had one that was labeld as a Russian Legless Lizard, dont know the scientific name sorry . It was about 3ft long and as thick as a medicine bottle. It never dropped it tail and wasnt too flexable like a snake would be. We fed it mealworms, crickets, and dog food. We had it for quite a while until it was sold. Cost was about $70 i think. I remember seeing one exactly like it out at the San Diego Zoo.
