i didnt say i was wrong or right on the way to pronounce it, i jus said how they say it here. everyone says it different i guess but we all know what were talkin about, who cares how we say it lol

Exactly..............if walks like a duck, and talks like a duck......it's probably a duck. A rock is a rock no matter how you say it.

Dude, give me your mobile number and i'll settle this once and for all!

Nova- "Hello"

Aussie- "Ly-car-de"... "mmmmk"

Nova- " "

Aussie- " Ask for a toga, not the Jar-di-ni... the other one"

;)

To everyone else(outside of Aus) say it however you like, Nova's aussie so we're telling him the aussie way (which is the right way  )

hmmm....very much a POINTLESS arguement.......countries colide and tongues twist......its about the same as an American and Brittish person arguing about who says things right on everyday REGULAR, SIMPLE words.....I think it is REALLY pronouced..
Lei-tard-ed :nilly::ROFL:;):D

My mate is a geologist and he would argue the point. I'll swap you a 10kg rock for a 1kg diamond since its no difference to you, I'll even pay shipping.

Aussienative

I would send you my mobile no. except for the fact that I don't have one, I got it now anyway, be a wierd phone call, I think you summed it up to a tee. I asked my LFS owner and he wrote it down and told me how to say it. Ly-car-d(t)i is what he wrote and says the (t) is a miss and hit thing.

Anyhow, point being.....you cant change a made up mind.....we are all looking at the same glass, it is what it is.....is it half empty, or is it half full. I personally just say it how I say it and DONT EXPECT anyone else to say it the way I do.( I personally say it - Lay-char-dee ) but thats JUST me. I can care less, this arguement makes MFKers look VERY childish.:(

A rock it a rock no matter how you say it indeed. ( raw-ca- , row-k, ra-ca ro-ck ) a diamond is a rock and a piece of coal is a rock......still a rock. And nothing has changed.:)

I have always pronounced it "LEE-A-SHARDI" or "LEA-SHARDI" and no one has ever once said anything about it or tried to correct me,I wonder now If they were all having a laugh to themselves after I left......:( :irked:

Well, there really isnt too many people that KNOW what its suppose to sound like. Really, is there a specific way to say one thing? Answer is no.....just another variation from place to place and culture to culture.....It like saying my gods better then your god. No one really sits down to think maybe they are different interpretations of the same thing. Put a group of people together and watch a fight. Everyone saw the same thing but have different understandings and ways of explaining the SAME incedent.:nilly:

not that how you say it even matters, Im sure most of your conversations concerning the fishy when you get it will take place right here! :D

I am not an aro pro but you are right about the origins. It was named after the german explorer Ludwig Leichhardt.

Considering it is someones last name there is ONLY ONE way to say it, any other way is wrong, I am not saying either side is wrong but there is a correct and incorrect way which is which I don't know, I'm sure his decendants do though. My name is Micheal Morrell pronouced My-call More-rel, if you were to say my name different you would be wrong. Many people say my last name as Mo-rule and they are wrong.

"this arguement makes MFKers look VERY childish"
If this arguement is childish then why did you start it back up, no one has posted in it for a while and it would have slipped right off the bottom of the page and would have ended. You are obviously childish so don't judge others. Besides this is a genuine discussion, are you saying that the pronoucaution of the English language is a chldish debate?

I will take a diamond over a lump of coal anyday, don't you know the vaule of money. Land is land so why don't you move to Iraq, since there isn't any difference :screwy: .
