Lemme see Your Electric Blue Jack's.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I almost always see pics of only juvenile or young EBJDs. Does anyone have pics of fully grown mature ones? Where do they all go?

Nice looking pics above guys.

stunning! Here's mine, just another juvie: currently in a quarantine tank fighting ich with some other centrals. It's weird, whenever I put him in the quarantine tank, he loses all his white spots, so I put him back in the show tank and by the next day he's got white spots coming up again, so I put him back in the quarantine tank, and within two days, they're gone again. should I try putting him back in or just let him ride it out in the quarantine tank with the rest of the centrals?

the show tank has the ich. ich is a free swimming organism. you will need to treat the show tank with a med that will kill the free swimming organisms. either that or the temperatures in the two tanks are really off. so after treatment if you place him back into the show tank and the temp is warmer or cooler by as little as three or four degrees the fish will continue to catch the ich.

I disagree... I've found they are susceptible to internal parasites until they reach sexual maturity, which is typically between 3~4"
yes my friend 3 and 4 usually come "past two inches". DUH!!! i still think your electric blues are by far some of the best i've seen. but dang do you always come off sounding so pompous?!! MR. 2,500posts(:

did you say you wanted one or ten. Jesus Mary and Joseph mister why do you need a 125g tank for one EBJD. i mean we all want our fish to have enough room. but keep in mind, these fish are very shy and spend most of there time hiding. youd wouldnt want people playing wheres Waldo with your fishie. or maybe you would that kinda sound like it could be fun (;

Well I wouldn't be keeping just one. Probably around 3. Plus at their max size, they can be around 9" or so. I would like them to be comfortable. :D

So what are you criticizing me for?

For having a lot of posts? Check them, I don't post just to be posting, darn near every one is offering experienced perspectives on fishkeeping...

For acknowledging the difference between "past 2 inches" and "sexual maturity"? The way you stated it one should expect that once their Blue Dempsey broke the 2" mark they are in the clear. That's simply not the case...

Or are you just upset because I disagreed with you and pointed out your mistake?... That's really it isn't it...

I mean... it's not like I complained about how annoying it is to have to come behind you and correct the inaccurate information you are promoting... I'm glad you are excited about your fish. But there is no need to pretend you are an expert and continually state hearsay as if it is fact. There are plenty of people on MFK with plenty of experience who can share...

Now having said that right off the bad would have been a little pompous... yet true none the less...

And FYI... I have bred more Blue Dempseys than I have made posts... While I don't know everything about them, I know a good bit ;) not be be pompous or anything :P

Thanks for the compliment, and best of luck with your Blue Dempseys...

Well expert.. you would know then that getting them past sexual maturity doesnt necessarily make them immune to parasites. its the fishes growth and the body matuing and building the immune system that give the fish a fighting chance. and herasy c'mon that doesnt even make sense. thats a biblical term. please dude i would think you of all people would know that. so when i said past two inches i wasnt talking about sexual maturaty, as that has no significance but actuallay the fish itself growing to the size of three to four inches, that make it more able to fight off sickness.. whatta a pompous jerk (:
