You would buy their whole stock?. I definitely take my lfs for granted. They get some really good quality fish sometimes. Normally the jewel cichlids are bland and some even with deformities. Inbred probably. but the other day they had some beautiful jewels. Perfect specimen. Would have grabbed them if I had another tank. That’s how it goes though. Everytime I go to a fish store theirs atleast one fish I wish I could buy. Have to remember and be grateful for the fish I already have.

Depending on how rare the species. This can happen at almost any lfs. I feel you though especially if it’s on more common species.

Hey I saw your marketplace post and noticed you said all your fish are fed on just bloodworms. I recommend to keep those as a treat maybe once or twice a week. They have little nutritional value and are more of a tasty protein treat which are addicting to fish. Junk food equivalent for fish. Get a good quality pellet as there staple.

The first time I bought a cichlid it was labeled as flowerhorn they were still fry so I didn’t know but it ended up being a blackbelt cichlid, I bought a fish labeled as flowerhorn yesterday and it’s a trimac cichlid I’m not gonna complain about it plus it could be a hybrid trimac x flowerhorn but I don’t know but I’m not gonna complain over getting a trimac cichlid on accident

I also feed predatory pellets and sometimes crappie fillet from a day of fishing

I saw your flowerhorn. You don’t really come by pure Trimacs at most all lfs so you definitely have a flowerhorn. I’ve definitely seen more trimac dominant flowerhorn that look almost identical to a trimac. I would consider yours a lower quality flowerhorn but if if you take care of it properly with good food and water changes it could turn into something nice.

Honestly I just want a flowerhorn cause I think the koks are hilarious I know flowerhorns can be a controversial topic in fish keeping and I agree that it’s as bad as dye injected fish but I mean cmon it’s a fish with a baseball as a forehead
