They take it to the next level, massive sumps,overkill mechanical filtration and the turnover they run is crazy i've seen tanks packed so much that some fish bump into each other but the water is so clear that it looks like their floating in air.

Talk about floating on air....
I always do overkill filtration no matter the stocking amount.
This is my Florida gar that looks like he is flying on air:

In this photo, he was in a 120-gallon aquarium with a turnover rate at 1500 gph.
He is now in a 180-gallon with a 40-gallon sump and a fx6 canister. The tank's gph is 2,800!

I don't want to derail this thread here, but what about the filtration in Singapore makes it so much different that they can justify those types of stocking levels? I'm genuinely asking because I don't know.

I think it is due to overfiltration and medications. I have a 220g tank, and have a 100g sump, which is half the tanks total gallons itself. There are also many types of chemicals in Singapore that make the parameters perfect and water crystal clear as well. I use some chemical called miracle water every 2 weeks and it makes the water perfectly see through. I’m quite sure the filters in Singapore are relatively cheap as well hence peopel can overfilter their tanks

Yea I plan on keeping them as long as they live and yes I know the life span of all species I own and if all goes good I can still have them when I’m 30-40 cichlid only until I’m around 25 but one thing I also have aquariums for is to help lower my blood pressure I have high blood pressure and aquariums have been proven to significantly decrease blood pressure and they help with anxiety and depression

This is true but after some extent, manically buying fish and planning to fill every dead space in your parents house with tanks which will still be too small for said fish will do a number on your mental health and many more things. Moderation is key. As much I love the hobby. There is more to life than keeping fish. It’s need to be a balance.

Well I live in SAE and the commonly recommended tank size for silver aros is 7x 3 x 2 (foot) and 6 x 2.5 x 2 for asian aros.In places like Singapore they keep fish in much tighter spaces since space is a luxury there but they make up for it with overfiltration.'Asia' is a bit broad don't you think?

sorry i shouldve said indonesia specifically because thats where i spent allot of my time in asia. you also named the most developed part of asia, actually one of the most developed places in the world (a stage 5 country even more developed than the US). i meant countries like indonesia and china where the cities themselves are “overstocked”. 250l was the standard for an aro where i was and with with the people i talked to. aros were everywhere and usually took up the entire tank almost front to back. surprisingly looked very healthy most the time.

Good luck, the market for Dempseys and convicts is crowded, tough to set yourself apart from the major retailers when your trying to sell one.

Yea I need to get rid of them I’m close to saying just 5$ for each of them 10$ for both ok getting desperate no ones replied to my threads on it
