In my opinion WALMART sucks! They have desroyed american jobs with their low prices. I will sign the petition.

"However I dont expect a company, well use Walmart and their fish as the example, to change because of how I FEEL."

That's the point: Wal-Mart doesn't care about how I feel...or how anyone feels...unless they actually stop shopping there. Then they care.

Being emotional is "rescuing" half-dead fish by giving Wal-Mart money. Tanks empty, order more...and teh cycle continues

Letting the CEO of the company know that 50 people have committed to NOT SHOPPING there until they clean up their act is purely rational.

How would you suggest to influence Wal-Mart's behavior? Or are you happy with the status quo?

I'm not sure what your obsession with PETA is. I eat meat, I keep pets, I like fish, I'm not rich. Just tired of a company that has the resources to properly care for the animals that it sells choosing to keep them in deplorable conditions.

Yes, the Wal-Mart in Lodi takes great care of their fish. Come check it out. Out of 40 or so of my clown loaches, 20 came from my Wal-Mart. I also buy all my filter media from them. So now it looks like 50-10 on your little poll.....only 43,950 members to go to sign your petition. And guess what, just because of this I think I'll take a trip to Wal-mart tonight just to spend some money on there fish. Just so they can see that their fish are moving and they will keep their tanks fully stocked. :headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:ROFL::ROFL: But I do think you have a great idea. I'll send this link to the CEO of Wal-Mart for you, but mainly to show how many people are against you, not Wal-Mart.

Would you say that this is representative?

I wouldn't say it's anything. I have a life, my main concern is not what or how Wal-mart takes care of there fish. I don't and wont give it a second thought. Why is it so important for you to see how and why people think the way they do? If you and the other 49 people who voted yes don't want to spend your money at Wal-Mart that's your right, but don't try to talk other people out of making up their own minds. I would bet that if you re-posted your poll and put option 3) I don't give a crap what Wal-Mart does with their fish, you would have a whole lot more votes ;) Now, just for arguments sake (because that seams that's what you are looking for) ask your self, where does Wal-Mart get there fish from? Do those fish come in in poor quality? Are you going to set up a new petition to close the distributers that sale WM those fish? .......just a little helpful advise. You started a poll to get people behind you, people didn't really bite. Next time don't try to argue your way into peoples favor, try a new sales pitch. I'm off to enjoy my Wal-mart fish. ;)

I wont vote for you, WalMart varied in different areas, some are good, some are bad....who cares? Sure my local WM were terrible but when I went to another town, their WM has nice stock and very healthy ones, and they dont have pacu, plecos and oscars in their stock anymore.

So not all walmarts are bad, thats where your idea were flawed. You were thinking of only one walmart in your area.

I didn't start a poll to "get people behind me". I started a poll to see if people on this site are willing to do something actionable to improve the level of care that Wal-Mart provides for the animals that it keeps and sells...or whether people are content in their apathy or with Wal-Mart's care.

For those who have said that Wal-Mart takes good care of the live aquatic animals that it sells, I've asked you to justify. Most have struggled to put together a coherent explanation.

Some have argued that they won't commit to not purchasing from Wal-Mart because they value being able to buy stuff cheap over the well-being of animals. I don't agree but can accept that as well.

Wouldn't it be better if Wal-Mart had a corporate policy vs. having some stores do OK and others not?

Some stores don't have fish anymore - is that because of more stringent state laws (i.e. extra requirements to sell live animals)?

Clown loaches with no ick, oscars with no hole in the head. Water quality was spot on. Pacus with perfect fins, kept in a 55 & they are all under 3", I'd say that is well within reason & wonderful prices........what more do you want. And please stop trying to attack people with the "If your not for ir, your against it" and "I'm looking for a coherent arguement"

"No - But, I must patronize Wal-Mart to provide for my family in these economic times."

I didn't add this option to the poll - someone else did. It's a red herring because no one "must" buy from Wal-Mart. There are many other options.

A better option would be "Although Wal-Mart keeps its fish in deplorable conditions, I will continue to buy from them because of their prices" That captures the conscious decision of buying from a place that keeps animals in deplorable conditions...
