My agenda if that what they want to call it is simple. I'm tired of getting the short end of the stick because someone else did something reprehensibly stupid or evil. Why should my my friends dog get put down because someone else failed to control their dog. Why should I get my firearms seized because someone else decided that it might be fun to shoot up a school. Why should my taxes go up because someone else felt that they just had to have 6 kids when they cant feed themselves. That in a nutshell is my agenda. As far as dangerous dogs either come up with a specific set of temperament criteria for ALL dogs and make it testable OR drop it. That's my agenda with regards to dangerous dogs. ASPCA has a very specific non breed based test standard, might be a good start.
while I agree with most everything you stand for, sometimes fixing the problems you list create bigger problems...FOR INSTANCE... you site not wanting to pay higher taxes for people who have 6 kids but don't feed themselves as an issue ...I agree it is ...BUT.. the cure(and it WON'T CHANGE) Is to cut $ from the whole program ,including seniors and disabled people(really disabled).. the motivation is good, GOVT. reaction is to punish all who use the system...now THAT statement(mine) is AGENDA driven....:)

Don't have the cure but a few suggestion however they would be off topic. Feel good measures that do not address the issue and harm many are not the answer. Even dog bite dot org shows only stats of pitt bull attacks decreasing where BSL has gone into effect. This tells me that total dog bits have not changed otherwise they'd be screaming from every pulpit that they defeated the evil menace and how so many people have been saved. CDC has openly stated that BSLs fail to show any significant improvement in dog bite injuries or fatalities.

I agree on the temperament testing for dogs. It all comes down to irresponsible ownership of a powerful breed. Don't blame the breed. Blame a stupid owner, I love pits but I have kicked one in the teeth for going after my dog. Was it the dogs fault, no it was the fault of its ignorant owner who let it run of leash on the street. Punish the individual not the whole

it would be easy if owners were always considered responsible for their dogs actions , because morally they are..if you can't handle, control or train the dog ,it's on you...the problem I THINK , is it's so hard to find any owner for certain breeds .. so states let ANYBODY own dogs

It really not that hard to one a pit honestly. I can think of at least a dozen other breeds harder to train and more dangerous

this I have no doubt is true...my contention is there are WAY to many, no account, irresponsible lazy people in the world that only get upset when you point out the fact that the ARE ALL OF THE ABOVE... ALL While sitting on their couch eating potato chips & ignoring their dog...while this is certainly not the case with all or even most owners ... I REGARD IT AS A PROBLEM....all opposed?

Hello; In a carry restrictive state like NY perhaps you can find some thing other than a gun to use. I use to keep a length of pipe, an old mower blade, a bush axe and such in quick to reach places in my back yard.
I live in Tennessee and have a carry permit. I was walking today past a trailer park down the highway. There were several dogs on chains, two of which appeared to be PIttbull types. One One barked, growled and made agressive moves from 50 yards away. I hope the chains hold but have already worked out a defense plan. In Tessessee a person is not liable if his/her dog bites you on their own property.
you think maybe UPS might have a problem with that tennessee law...bet you missed part of it

I agree bites probably won't be cut down by any law ...except maybe OWNERSHIP ELIGIBILITY of large & dangerous breeds..that's a tough bill to pass

I would not agree with limiting large breed dogs. Cause to me a true pit bull ain't a large breed dog. I true APTB shouldn't be over 70 pounds. That is not large. Now a 120 lbs of cane corso is large

I don't think pit bulls in general are a dangerous breed,it's stupid owners&breeders(M.VICK) who screw it up for everybody...most dogs, imo, are NOT violent by nature..inbreeding , bad owners, and lack of dicipline are 90%of the problem

I didn't login this afternoon. Did I miss lots of arguing.?
Lee: please don't interpret MY intent/motive/purposes by claiming I made this thread because I have an AGENDA. Don't make this political. you bring politics and biases into practically every discussion.
Lexus has the agenda. I am merely discussing the terrible results of the out of control "Project".

1. I used Lexus to give a concrete example of the issue that I stated in the opener. The reason is, Lexus is establishing legal precedents & scaring Counties and States away from even being able do their already appointed job in Animal Control cases (monetarily and also with humane treatment of already-traumatized victim families.
ie; the Nevada family would've been forced to testify & re-live the events in court. the judge stated this as part of reason for "settling".
In the AZ case: the County can not afford to fight this mess).
Someone asked in the other thread about the Az case, if there is going to be a Supreme court for canines? Well, in the Nev case a news headline read "Nevada Supreme Court sends Onion the dog case back to lower court"
SO:
2. Cases of severe dog maulings with severe human injuries and even deaths will keep happening, and we need to realize that all The Rules Are Changing !
3. Owners Sign & "surrender" dog to County Control for euthanasia. (Owners have always had rights to euthanize our dogs, right?)
4. The dogs' actions meet criteria in existing local laws for "Vicious" behavior. Therefore, BOTH the owners AND local officials set dog for euthanasia. What could go wrong? Just when you think the nightmare may start fading a little bit..
5. INTERFERENCE by Litigation. Lexus stops the process.
6. And this really kills me: Vicious and/or Killer dogs are court-ordered to be physically moved out of the area where offense occurred (often, different states.) Sometimes the exact location of dog is not known.

Is it right to relocate these offending dogs at all? I think not. Even human criminals' cases are handled within certain jurisdictions.
If a dog kills a child in Caif or Nev, should he get a death sentence reprieve and get "paroled" way out in Ohio?
Do you want him that dog in your area?
There's no Megans' List for dogs. just sayin.........
