I have a neighbor with a giant pittbull that growls at me when I go to my back door. have really been considering carrying my .357 again all cause this stupid dog. only thing between me and the dog is my 3.5 foot fence (the dog can easily jump). Sad thing is the home owner is an awesome guy its his looser step son that owns the dog. That dog gets near one of my kids its going down.
Hello; Sit down with your kids and talk to them about the dog. Make sure they understand the danger.
Go ahead and carry the gun now, do not wait.
Get your kids pepper spray if they are old enough to use it.
Install a camera to monitor the action of the dog to collect evidence of agressive behavior.
Point out to the neighbor the financial liability the dog represents.
Check the local laws about what can be done If the dog gets in your yard and make a plan.
I had a neighbor with a pit bull on a chain and no fence between us. I carried a pistol when mowing and being in the yard.
If in fact the dog bites someone, it seems that we can no longer rely on the local authorities to be able to put it down. I hope that dogs are still considered property and destruction of property is still a monetary fine.
