lfs in nj

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Absolutely fish in Clifton. Prices are a bit too high, but the selection and quality as well as knowledge of staff is much better than any shop I've been to in north jersey.

Aquascape has gone downhill.

Absolutely Fish has quality fish, but for a price.

Check out the NJ chit chat thread for recent pics of Ely's. Great family run store. Old school.

That's too bad about Aquascape and the photos of Ely's that you have in that thread are what has me intrigued and wanting to take a drive to pay them a visit.

Absolutely is expensive but service is second to none.
Elys is very expensive and limited hours but sometimes you can find a nicely priced hidden gem. The store layout almost feels like it has hidden rooms
Aquascape has seriously gone downhill but the prices haven't droppedwith it. The only thing I would consider is fw stingrays based on the source.
Fish hut is more African Cichlid. Their other stock is all over the place. I've found incredible deals but also had times they priced if the fish pooped gold
Ocean gallery in North plainfield on 22 is incredible for saltwater. Their fw is all over the place. I've bought stuff and gotten a steal and bought stuff and known I've overpaid but they try their best and are very customer friendly to the point I am willing to pay over sometimes because that's what I want my lfs to treat me.
Adams pet safari in Chester is great for prices but have less variety in their stock. But half foot arowanna for 40 to 50 bucks is great for what I see.
I keep trying to get ocean gallery to donate to auctions. And they get a lot,of trade ins that if don't sell the weekend are priced nicely. Got a 12 inch poly delehzi and 6 inch Senegal for 50 combined. Makes me more than happy to support them

Sorry long message. Summary, be nice to ocean gallery and Adams pet safari
Even if not best stock customer service effort and small business feel worth supporting

Depends on what part of NJ you are in... Me I am in the northern part.. so what everyone said above stands.
Kazmirs in hackensack is an old school family pet store but mostly smaller stuff but can have nice rare community stuff
Fishtown USA in Ramsey is cool and again that old school fish store feel
IF you are that far north jump the NY boarder and check out Beitals in Pear River NY- the owner is cranky but he gets some fantastic fish and all the monsters

and my personal favorite is in queens NY - Monster Aquarium- top notch and all the rare stuff well worth the tolls and traffic
