LFS: USA & CAN

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I used to work at Absolutely Fish for about a year. Their fish are high quality, but generally underfed. Water is pristine though. Prices are very high too.

Shark Aquarium is pretty good.

Animal House up on Rt23 is pretty good.

Where are the Connecticut people?
OR more importantly, where are they going for their fish, and supplies?

I used to live in Fairfield, and went to a lfs on Tunxis Hill right off Black Rock Turnpike, Great place and great people. However, now i'm further up state and I am looking for new places to go. Danbury is empty aka petco and petland discount.

So Its time the CT people get together, RI, NY, and MA's also, and map out our states.

not only that but get everybody in the area into a forum, that way we can keep up to date about area events, and even possibly start up way for people to buy and sell or trade for the things they are looking for.

Dont buy fish from the petco in federal road there always sick fins in things is very over priced .i go to animal kingdom its only two more exists after petlland on 84 there awsome very clean very good prices they just started a 8000 indoor pond that holds big fish that they adopt . For supplies i use bigals or fosters best prices .

There are a few GREAT places I use in RI. One on Wickenden Street in providence had a beautiful frontosa tank.
I heard of a place in Manchester CT that is supposed to be really nice as well.

Me and my family are going up to Lincoln city Oregon. We go there every year around this time for a little vacation. My mom said that i should ask you guys if there are any aquarium stores or fish stores close to Lincoln city. My moms really getting into the hobby and is now being really supportive.

I go to Fishtopia in Fishkill, NY it's only about 20 mins west of Danbury on 84 The owner John is a good guy and likes to get some different fish in there.

Rainbow Pet Shop in Arleta, CA is where I go. I would love to find a new place to go check out anywhere around SCV to SFV

DFW Metroplex... some listed previously

As far as PetsMart and PetCos go... the only in the area I'd recommend is the Petsmart @ Garland @ 190. I've spent enough money there that the store manager offered me a job. Great people - won't hesitate to say "hey... if you like that fish... theres an LFS at such and so intersection with a lot more selection... bigger too!" Fish usually healthy though I wouldn't recommend getting any community fish there.
**edited to add... STAY AWAY FROM THE PETSMART AT 75 AND PARKER! YOU CAN NOT GET WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE ANNYYYWHERE!

Exotic Aquatics - not mentioned yet - Parker @ Alma - very small store, not a huge selection but a knowledgeable staff, clean tanks and healthy fish

Fish Gallery - mentioned above - supposedly no guarentee on fish - lots of selection - knowledgeable staff again - clean tanks - I've never had any problems and it's my favorite

Pet Boutique - dirty tanks but I keep going back because the old guy who's always there is an absolute hoot. Doesn't mind spending 20 minutes in a huge tank full of baby convicts to pick the one you want.

To the people who were talking about trading co. store in the dfw metroplex... you guys gave two addresses on it. One post said they moved so which are they at now? Both addresses given in the same day. I'd like to check it out... and yes, :) I'll talk to Cole.
