No shipping involved, it was a local buyer.

I didn't promise anything and the fish lived about 16 hours in his tank
Unh hunh...sounds like this fellow did'nt know what he was doing. How does that saying go,about a fool and his money?

It sounds like poor job on acclimating the fish (just an assumption) or bad water conditions ......all pointing towards the buyer being at fault.

Maybe he tossed the poor thing into a saltwater tank. Aro's are pretty tough... it must have taken really bad conditions to kill it like that.

The stress of the move probably got to him and maybe a PH level difference. But no, I don't think you should be liable. If a buyer is going to spend that much money on a fish they should ask lots of questions and observe the fish eating and acting normally for a while before removing them from their owner..........

tell him to go fly a kite. if he saw the fish before buying and it was fine, then he OBVIOUSLY did something wrong. my thoughts are uncycled tank or improper acclimation. his loss, not yours

My lfs said it might be the high ph or if he added copper sulfate or chemicals containing sulfate to his tank.

I am waiting for his water sample to see if it is his fault or not!

;)

I wouldn't have even gone that far. Now he can get a clean water sample and try to hold you accountable. ;/

exactly.

i dont even know why youre playing along with his games. just setting yourself up to become liable. watch what you say very carefully. when dealing with this amount of money, you cant be too safe

He's fine. Unless the buyer has something in writing, he's SOL. You can tell him it's your fault, and in court deny it. He can't prove anything!

Don't email, only talk on phone ! If he has anything in writing YOUR FUXED!
I can't believe someone would pay 2 Gs for an Arowana :WHOA:
