Little earthquake, little leak.

Every morning as the eastern sun hits the tank, it starts to leak again, about a gallon per hour (maybe more as it gets hotter).

until after about 3 hours, when the sun is overhead and blocked by the patio roof, the temp drops, and the leak "almost" stops.

Was able to go to the mainland a coupe days ago, and found some extra strength marine silicone, and will eventually drain the tank, and reseal that panel. But so far the leak just waters the garden

Sounds like GoFundMe page needs to be set up. I am thinking a couple of 400gal tanks.

As of now....the leak is tolerable, tank being on the patio.
But at some point (maybe after the next group of quakes), I'll drain it down all the way and try with the new heavy duty silicone.
Well, you have always said you like to do water changes almost daily... I guess this way, half the work is done for you! Lol
Best of luck actually fixing the leak. Seems like the earthquakes are quite common out there. Maybe build some impact absorption into the stand somehow? Rubber mat underneath?

Its been a while since the largest earthquake, and there have been a few minor ones since, so the tank still leaks a bit. I have become used to it, and plan daily water changes around it during the time when the sun is brightest. During that bright couple hours it can usually fill a couple gallon jugs 3 or 4 times each, and a 1 gallon pail dripping off the side 4 or 5 times. Makes water changes easy.

So in essence you are just doing a manual drip system? No water challenges per se?

I would let the water down low, and do an exterior patch job with old fashioned sheet metal corners embedded in silicone. Stainless if you can get some, aluminum if you can't. Even uncoated mild steel if you silicone the whole thing to prevent rust.

This won't cure the leak 100% unless you are very lucky, but it can prevent catastrophic blowout if it cures before the next shaker.
