Do you think the pink fatheads would bring out more color in the fish you are feeding them to?

a well rounded diet and quality water will bring out the best color in your fish.. don't get me wrong there is junk stock out there still being sold. that should have been culled but greed sometime's take's over ..

Wow very beneficial information. So would these still need to go through the quarantine most feeders need to go through before feeding them to your fish?
If not...I think I found a use for my 30 gallon...Prices seem reasonable. Thanks for the information!

That's a lot of minnows, but then again...Li has to feed all of the kids.

I just called and spoke with Mac, Shipping Manager for Anderson Minnow Farms.

Most prices for their feeders are roughly the same wherever you are, and the highest I was quoted was 100 bucks but that was for 10 lbs of black salty. The prices hover around 75-100 depending on type and the fish are sold by weight (5 or 10 lbs) There are some restrictions for some states and they pretty much know what they are, California being the most stringent.
They market their product mostly as bait fish, but the benefit of direct ordering is reduced price and knowing that YOU can control the quality of the fish once they arrive to your home. Unless you raise your own feeders and this doesn'y interest you anyways. They are inspected by the USDA and Fish and Game Departments for quality of their fish semi-annually, so you are guarenteed healthy fish and disease free. Their very existance depends on it.

The black salty is a freshwater species that is basically similar to goldfish but they can survive for extended periods (max. hour or so) in saltwater, but they will not live in it. Would be perfect for large predatory salt tanks.
Their goldfish and such are fed goldfish flake foods.
The others with commercially bought foods dispersed in their ?acres ponds. They ship in boxes to your doorstep overnight.

Mac is at 1-800-20-minno (ext. 35) Really nice fella and answers many questions. I did not mention the possibility of MFK member discount :naughty: (only been a member for a day) , but I did mention I learned about his company through MFK. Hopefully other will mention MFK and let the discounts begin. I will place an order with them for fatheads after I get a 30 gallon feeder tank established. Hope this helps answer anyones questions they may have. I wonder how many breeding pairs will come in a 600+ shipment of Fatheads? Same thing for the shiners.

here is intresting info i got from that site

http://www.andersonminnows.com/shipping.htm

Follow the table below as a guideline.

Water Temperature ----- Pounds of Fish ----- Gallons of Water
55° Fahrenheit ----------- 5 ---------------- 15
65° Fahrenheit ----------- 5 ---------------- 20
75° Fahrenheit ----------- 5 ---------------- 30
85° Fahrenheit ----------- 5 ---------------- 50

I'll bet that chart is for a temporay container, I cant see 600 1 1/2" fish surving long in a 30 gallon tank. Better have a good bio filter.
I was thinking about putting mine in a 100 gallon rubermaid container in my garage.
