In one post I suggest worms and other insects, but it appears to be overlooked.Lupin;3206220; said:Folks, I am noticing the pattern here. OP asked for live foods, not live fish specifically so could we please cover this one, not just feeder fish anymore? Some opinions done are still too narrow and covers mainly the feeder fish.

But the world of aquaria is not as simple as keeping cichlids. There are actually fish out there that will not readily accept a pellet. Welcome to the world of top level predators. Were pellets get laughed at.
Yes, in a wave of flurry about feeder fish, it is easy to overlook as has been possible in past threads covering this very similar subject.bluehairman;3206235; said:In one post I suggest worms and other insects, but it appears to be overlooked.
We're forgetting that the flora still comprises the diet of almost all fish, not just the fauna in the wild.If you were to feed only live which includes feeders, worms, shrimp, you name it. It would be a lot healthier than the pellet IMO. Especially worms. They're great for fish, and the fish love them. These are earthworms btw.
There is nothing wrong with feeding feeders if precautions are taken like I said previously. And I still stand by the fact that predators should have a little bit of feeder in the diet.

The post above covers feeder fish as I suspected. Other live foods such as mealworms should not be overlooked.
I brought up cichlids because of the overwelming response from what looked to be alot of cichlid keepers. And i am sure that the answers given are swayed to the cichlid keeping side of fish keeping. The OP said nothing about cichlids, so i felt the need to make a point that most of these answers are coming from cichlid keepers. If the OP's question is related to keeping cichlids then I would have said feed pellets. After all simple fish, simple methods, simple feeding. Or a form of K.I.S.S.Lupin;3206205; said:My first response to you, was done at that time the thread began to lean on cichlids and other specifics. Nowhere in your first response to the first post, does it say cichlids specifically. Read first post and find out which of the first post when you responded to it, asked for cichlids specifically.
