Living in a tiny House

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok how bout those clearing 2000 a month net, paying 800 to rent an apartment by themselves. That's barely a 1000 they can save if they pay nothing but living space. It'll take at least a few years to save that much. Add a kid. More expenses. Not that easy. Poverty line is 12000. You're well over it even with a wife and kid. Maybe to you it's not THAT hard, but I'm saying it's not easy.

You think I got where I am EASY? LMAO

I did it the hard way. Because of that, all I hear when people say something is 'hard' is WHINING. If you WANT something, go get it. Don't complain about how hard it is. I'm white trash straight out of the trailer. I could have sat around and complained and never accomplished anything like so many people who were in my shoes, but I chose to do something with myself. You say it will take a few years? Hell, it has take me 14 years of hard work to accomplish my goals, but I've nearly completely done it. I have no pity for the fifty year olds who are still making $8 an hour at Micky D's because they have spent thirty years putting all of their effort into complaining. If they want the same salary as me (which isn't much mind you), they should have busted their asses as hard as I have.

The opportunities are there for anyone who really wants it. With all of the people who are content to do nothing, the only reason that a person who wants to succeed doesn't is their apathy.

I'm going to bed.

I blame the food customer service industry.

they expect so much tip that they go out and buy all this stuff and get mad at customers when they don't get tipped 20%

If you ARE debt free, that kind of money isn't THAT hard to come up with. Even on a blue collar paycheck.

GETTING debt free is the hard part though.

You just said right there that it's "not that hard" I don't know why you're trying to argue with me then, then you say " you think it was EASY?". I don't know why you're straddling both sides of the fence and using extreme cases. First it's not THAT hard, then you're saying I'm foolish for saying that you're in a well off position now. All I see is contradiction.

Y'all must be rich to be like- imma drop 40 gs and still be debt free! You guys make it sound easy to come up with 40 gs outta pocket...

Notice I implied it wasn't easy, then you said it wasn't that hard. Then you laugh at me when I acknowledge what you say isn't that hard in my argument, but you said all you need is a little "discipline" previously. I'm done though it's obvious you're convinced that whatever I say is whining like you said.

Your getting cost of living confused with debt. Debt is money borrowed having a interest rate added onto it or not
You can choose not to own a car
Whether borrowed or not, it's expense that you need to pay. You may choose not to own a car, but the time you spend to catch bus, walk or ride bike, isn't it "money?" I always hear the said "Time is money..."

Those things aren't debts. They're the cost you pay for services rendered. Those bills have no interest and no money was loaned which makes them simply bills, not debts.

Big difference.

They'd only be debts if you (foolishly) pay them with credit cards.
While money was not loaned, it was advanced (whether in form of actual money or service rendered.) If it's not debt, why do you have to pay it? You don't need to pay it with your credit card. Just don't pay it, and it will go straight to collector. What will it become? Debt, isn't it? I bet it will come with interest as well...

The only difference is how it was worded. Just like tax and fee...

This thread is so derailed. No one cares about your boo hoo hardship story, we just want to know if you can live in a tiny house. The gloating and mudflinging is pretty amusing though

A $3000 Escort will do everything a $45,000 new Mustang will
Just like Zapatha said, you like to use extreme cases. How about a $3000, 10-year old Camry and and new $20K new Camry? If you get a decent job, good credit, you can use that $3000 as down payment for a new Camry with 0% interest and a monthly payment of about $270 for the next 5 years. If you rather spent it on that $3000, 10-year old Camry, what would happen in the next 5 years? Timing belt, transmission, engine, alternator, starter... I'm sure you always keep $1K or $2K aside for those emergencies. What would happen if you have the cash to replace those part? Put it on your credit card? It doesn't matter how you look at it, or how you word it, it's debt...

That's why I love The Lounge" thread :D

Pooped in an outhouse... didn't care for it... but I'm a better person now because of it...

This is a very good point, and I'm totally agreed!
