LMB and foods other than pellets and shrimp!

I'm not going to judge another species based on it's distribution and relation to man

And here is the difference between you and I....I'm not a hobbyist and I do not narrowly focus my attention to fish in glass boxes alone. I look at things much further and much more in depth.

I'm a native ecologist and naturalist. I'm not an armchair conservationist...I do work in the field and in my local community to promote and protect Native North american fishes in the wild.

My opinion of a species is dictated by what I see, Scientific fact and experiance, It is based on rational and careful analysis of fact and observation...NOT EMOTION..

LMB are an Invasive alien species, as are carp, both are listed on the 100 worst invasive animals by the ICUN, Species Survival Commission, Invasive Species Specialist Group. It is not just my opinion here about what these animals have done to indigenous species outside (and inside on occassion) their natural range.

I really do not give a rats *** about what you think of me Sandtiger as I'm really not going to lose any sleep because you do not like me. I have something you really do not have and that is called Standing. I know what I'm talking about and I have just as much if not more conviction in my statements as you. Do not think somehow that I'm going to continue arguing with you, You are a waste of my time personally.

You really do not know crap about me and your judgements and attacks about my character are fairly infantile. If all you can find to continually waste my time with is my dislike for invasive species then please just shut the hell up and get your self an ecological education.

I'm sorry I just do not like your stupid fish and I'm not out hugging every plant and animal "Just because"...

Thank you

I have no problems with eating fish, birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, insects, or any other edile lifeform. I also have no problem with feeding them to each other. The mouse was too large for the bass, LMBs will strike things larger than themselves, that is because they are fairly stupid. I also have been known to strike things larger than myself, apparently I am not too bright myself.
As for feeding small children to alligators, depends on the kid.

I still think that, although a decent fish (where they belong) LMB, SMB, and especially bluegills, have caused a tremendous ammount of damage to less popular fish species, same goes for rainbow trout and even mosquito fish.

People transplanted them, there are excessive numbers of people, many parts are edible, hmmm.

HAH! Yeah teleost! You're a meanie butt!

Chad, you knew by starting this thread that it was going to be controversial. You asked for it. You got it. Why bring it up if you are never going to do it? Oh, I mean, you PROBABLY will never do it.

Yes I knew there was going to be controversy on this thread. I wanted to see the pros and cons on this subject. I wanted to see what people had to say and I honestly wouldn't spend 99 cents on feeder that wouldn't even be exciting to watch it get eaten. If I wanted an expensive feeder I will feed my bass a useless pirhanna. This just seemed like it would be an interesting thread and it would have been brought up even without me-> http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50582 . And I never complained about there being controvesy on this thread. That is what I wanted to see. Its fun. I like to see the different views and points.

Humans are animals, this is scientific fact, like it or not. We are no different, we are not superior and we are not top of the food chain (I'm sure the many parasites that feed on us would argue with you on that one). There is no proof that we have a soul, there is no proof that other animals lack one. Living things have been on this planet for 3.7 billion year, humans a mear 1 million years. Do you really honestly think evolution stops with us? How arrogant could you be.

HA HA HA HA HA HA Evolution ..... Good one.

Humans?...are animals? Oh man, I thought we were a virus. You know, your right we're NOT at the top of the food chain. Guns are. and aids. and bass are too.

OOOHHHH man I'm still laughing..........evolution....SO GOOD!!!!

No soul huh? To bad.

Well good for you. Perhaps I should remind you though, this is a hobbiest site where people focus their attention on fishes in glass boxes.

I'm a native ecologist and naturalist. I'm not an armchair conservationist...I do work in the field and in my local community to promote and protect Native North american fishes in the wild.

Good for you. Just because this is not my career however don't assume I don't care about the environment. I do, and if I catch a non-native fish I can assure you I will kill it, I'm not going to come onto fishkeeping forums though and start insulting the fish people choose to keep.

My opinion of a species is dictated by what I see, Scientific fact and experiance, It is based on rational and careful analysis of fact and observation...NOT EMOTION..

Your option of a species most certainly is dictated by emotion that, and the mistakes made by people in the past, otherwise why would you result to calling fish names? Largemouth bass aren't ratfish. Ratfish are Chondrichthyan fishes also known as chimaeras. Scientists call fishes by their actual names. If your emotion wasen't a part of this why would you stoop so low as to try and insult a fish in a thread where people are talking about how to take care of the damn thing.

I'm fully aware of the invasive status of both species and what they have done to the ecosystem.

I really do not give a rats *** about what you think of me Sandtiger as I'm really not going to lose any sleep because you do not like me. I have something you really do not have and that is called Standing. I know what I'm talking about and I have just as much if not more conviction in my statements as you. I don't give a rat's ass what you think I think of you or what you think of me. You don't want to argue with me, that's fine and if you do I'll happily reply eatch and every time.

You really do not know crap about me and your judgements and attacks about my character are fairly infantile
.

No, I don't know crap about you and your judgements. Maybe your a terrific guy offline but online your an arrogant know-it-all. Infantile? Yeah, maybe...I can't say I care much, maybe enough to respond but beyond that call me what you want. The fact that your here proves you can easily stoop to my infantile level, despite all your formal eductaion and expericane. But just like I don't know anything about you, the same is true the other way around.

If all you can find to continually waste my time with is my dislike for invasive species then please just shut the hell up.

That's all you have given me so far.

and get your self an ecological education

I'll get right on that.

I'm sorry I just do not like your stupid fish and I'm not out hugging every plant and animal "Just because"

Though it is very kind of you, there is no need to apologize.

Thank you

Your welcome.:)

You may not judge a fish on the fact that it's invasive/harmful but you seem willing to call Polypterus a fish snob. Why can't you judge a fish that's been thrown in hundreds of thousands of waters where it simply could never have naturally migrated yet you throw around judgmental terms about people as casually as tossing the car keys on the kitchen counter?

Why can't I judge a fish? BECAUSE IT'S A FISH! It act's according to it's nature not it's opinions and ideals. They don't have anger, or hate, or greed. They do what they do to survive and that's it, nothing else.
Why can't I judge a fish that has been thrown into water it doesn't belong it? Because it's idiot people that put them there. The fish had no choice, and now that they are there they aren't going to just die off because some people changed their minds about them being there. Forming a judgement on an animal doing what comes naturally is a waste of time. Sure, removing an invasive species is important but anything beyond that is just foolish.

I'm willing to bet Polypterus has more feelings than any ratfish and he works to improve the natural environment for native fish while these introduced fish do the opposite.

Yeah, he does. That's why I can judge him and not some misplaced fish. The fish that destroy other species don't know better but another person does and based on the things they say or do can be judged.

Calm down people,
people who get to irate on websites often make good flake food if properly processed.

what is this thread even about anymore? :bs:
