My LMB fingerlings have arrived! I ordered 3 but they sent 4... they are about 2.5 to 3". Got them quarantined for a few weeks to fatten up and check for disease before they go in with the peacocks.

Awesome LMB's! Can wait to see how they grow :D

I was just thinking that question too... ahah

Odered from a hatchery, couldnt get them without an educational affiliation. Luckily my cousin works for a school district here in the area so I was able to use his credentials to get them. Cheap too, think it only cost like 36 bucks delivery and all

Nice little guys. The bottom one in the first pic looks like it could be a spotted bass, but they're so hard to tell apart when they're that small.

Wow, there's a hatchery in my home town and all you need is money to buy from them lol. You could pick up 4 that size for maybe $5

You see them in person youll know they are without a doubt spotted bass. Lower jaw does not extend past the eye, both dorsal fins are connected, mottled spots down the lateral line. These arent real common in Texas waters, but we do have them. I would have liked to have Florida strain but these are better suited for aquaria anyways. They dont get near as big and they are a little more decorative as far as markings go. I think the world record is like 10lbs, and thats a rare spot.

With little guys though, the lower jaw does not extend beyond the eye in LMB or spotted. With semi-adults to adults of either species it's easy to differentiate between the two.
