Must be nice, there is a fish farm about an hour south of me that has F1 Floridas like 4" for $1.50. Problem is they only allow in person pick up by appointment only, and they wont meet you out there to pick up less than 10 fish. And shiping...pfft forget about it. They want to charge $400 to ship 2 fish.
With little guys though, the lower jaw does not extend beyond the eye in LMB or spotted. With semi-adults to adults of either species it's easy to differentiate between the two.
True, but im about 99% sure these are spotted. Ive been around natives since I was old enough to remember, and Ive seen lots of fingerlings. These def. do not look like Floridas.

I'd agree that those look like spotted, at least from the clear side shot of the bottom one in the first pic. The easiest way to tell with the fingerlings is the tail color. With spotteds (and small mouths, but that's another story), they have a tri-colored tail (clear, black, and then white edge) and large mouths have a bio-colored tail (clear with a black edge). Those appear to have the white outer edge. That's what I based the spotted diagnosis on
I'm confused....the topic title is "LMB blah blah blah" but you're sure you have spotted bass. What is going on here? Did you buy LMB or Spotted? I've never heard of a state stocking spotted bass and likely they would not raise in a hatchery a fish they don't stock.

You are correct, Texas does not stock Spotted typically. Seeing as how I did not buy them in Texas, ordered from Kentucky, where the Spotted Bass is the State fish, things might start to add up for you a little better. They were advertised as Largemouth but when they got here they were clearly Spotted. I still consider these Largemouth, because they are far from being Smallmouth, but really they are neither. Go figure
That would be illegal. Mail order is not. Being in possesion of a sport fish that is not within the legal size limits is punishable by like $250 per fish. Not saying I havent done it, and not that I didnt try lol. Ive spent a good portion of my life on the lake, im familiar with these tricks.
Edit*: There is no size limit in Texas for Spotted.
