Here is my idea for a logo

I like how you are playing with fonts, it's always interesting to me, how simply changing a font or font size of something can dramatically change the overall image. You have a modern/techno look to yours and I like it. But don't forget the ' in Ocean's! :)

Alright guys, Emileigh is busy at the moment and she ask me to throw this up here because it seems she is in a bit of a time crunch to get this logo done.

She ask that all of you magical artist either clean this one up a bit or try to make one that is similar.

She also said that she holds the power in this forum and if anyone laughs she will give them an infraction!

Thanks guys! Lets make it happen!

Water_Baby really appreciates everyones involvment and help with this!

Thank you so much Kory for posting that!
Ok guys so here is the breakdown, I KNOW the picture is horrible, LOL - I don't wanna hear it!!
What I need you guys to do is take my horrible 30 second attempt and either clean it up, detail it and make it rock, or change it up completely and give me something new to look at.
All I ask is that you stick to the basic idea of the logo. This is what I am looking for (not my specific picture because its just horrible, lol), but something along these lines.

Reason I am on a time crunch is because Ocean's Advocate has a representative attending the Annual Elasmobranch Society Meeting in Montreal, Canada this July, 2008. At this meeting, our representaive is going to be promoting Ocean's Advocate, and speaking with very important individuals about this organization, and we are going to have Pamphlets, and hopefully bumper stickers, or something of the like, which will be passed out as well.

SO with that said, I am in serious need of a unique logo that we can start advertising otherwise we will be forced to use our "Generic" wave logo - which I hate!!
To keep you on the right track, I have uploaded below, some logo's of a few organizations within our field. You will also see that the American Elasmobranch Society's logo is also shown.
I thank you all so very much for your participation and dedication to this project, and will make sure that all involved will receive a limited Edition Ocean's Advocate Shirt and sticker. Thank you all!!

First off, let me just say that originally - I knew my sketch was crap, NOW I am convinced that my sketch wouldn't even be worthy of wiping my dog's rear! It looks awesome!! When it comes to your geographical detail of the continents, its AMAZING and I love it!!!!

The ray is also wicked, a little large, but love it...is there any way to make the tail curl the other direction and make it a little smaller??
And the shark fin for the "A" looks a little like a volcano, lol. Oh crap I hope you didnt think it was supposed to be a volcano, hahahaha, blame it on my barney art skills!!!!

could you give me a little sketch of what u want the tail to look like, dont want to mess it up again. and now that i look at the fin, it does look exactly like a volcano! Even has a little puff of smoke coming out of it (an island). i will fix that also!

Sure i can try - but you saw my first attempt, so expect it to be just as crappy. LOL. If you look at the one Kory posted for me, it shows the direction I was aiming for with the tail, so if you use you imagination and your skills (which I lack), then it should be easy to fix. And DO NOT say you messed it up, nothing about that design was messed up!! I still cant get over how awesome your continents and islands are!!

One thing to consider - just an idea - is making the writing bigger, overlapping some of the land areas - - OOOORRRR - - -
We can put Ocean's Advocate along the top, and keep "protecting our world's oceans" on the bottom, and use the middle to showcase not only the earth, but also maybe a full body shark looking like it is swimming around the globe - make any sense??? Like the head, pectorals, dorsal and front portion will show in front, and then the rest of the body will be hidden behind the globe with the tail sticking out on the TOP of the globe, making the "A" in Advocate....

And the ray can face downwards, with the tail whip coming to the top of the globe, maybe making the "C" in Ocean's... Like have the tail curve to make a loose "C", like the top half of an "S" looks like???

Is that possible???

AND IF ANYONE CAN DRAW A SEA TURTLE, that might be cool to incorporate in it also, perhaps with the sea turtle swimming in front of the globe - sorta towards the ray and away from the shark, as if the globe was a ball is was swimming infront of and around!!!

Is this making any sense??

OK sooo after my complicated directions, I thought it might help a little to sketch it out real quick to show what I was talking about.

NOW WE ALL KNOW I AM NOT AN ARTISTS SO BEAR WITH ME PEOPLE!! LOL

This should give you some idea of what I want it to look like. It's really rough because I seriously sketched in like 30 seconds, so forgive me.

DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE SHADING!!

The only reason certain parts are colored in, was to make it easier to see since the sketch was so rough - plus I was using a blue glitter pen so I couldnt erase anything or change anything, :ROFL:yea I know, that was smart of me huh!!

Anyways, looking at it on paper made it easier to decide what I want the final product to look like.

Looking at the picture, try to see what I am explaining....

**I want the left wing of the ray to wrap more around the back of the globe, like the ray was cruising over a ball, hugging it sort of. I would like it to be either a Manta or Spotted Eagle. Prefer Manta as first choice though.

**I want the sea turtle to be coming up from under the globe, and appear more rounded as well - like it too was cruising over a ball. The tail end of the turtle - along with the "feet" fins might not show, or one might but the other might not, it will depend on the angle you take.
Basically keep the animals close to the globe, wrapping around it.

**The shark, well it doesn't really matter what species, IGNORE my shading on the body and tail, that was only to make it easier to see it separate from the globe. I really like the tails of Threshers and Lemons though for their elaborate structure.

I know it's a crap sketch - most of that was due to me trying to hurry, and using a glitter pen that I could not make adjustments with - (so there are some bumps and stray lines to ignore too, lol), but this should give you a good idea of what I have in mind.

THE TAIL DOES NOT HAVE TO MAKE THE "A" IN ADVOCATE IF IT LOOKS TOO AWKWARD. Instead we can simply place the "A" over the tail, making the tail in the background.
