Lonely Oscar...75 stocking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He will come around, they tend to be sensitive. I have always had the best luck with Oscars and Green Terrors together.

Oscars are big babies. He'll be fine if the water is clean. They work great as a single wet pet. Especially if you give him treats like worms bugs and shrimp.

Well I got in contact with his previous owner and he is going give me the jd he had with it so I'm going to see if that helps. He's not eating and he is fins are starting to fall apart from fin rot. I'm going to do a water change and treat the tank with melafix.

maybe a solo female convict or a smaller pleco, ive always had a pleco in all my tanks do some research tho as some get massive.... a few silver dollars? lots of choices but oscars always look depressed lol!-) you have 3500 posts, are you not normally a fresh water guy?

looking good. fins arnt too bad, personally that doesnt look bad enough for meds, just do water changes and add a little aquarium salt, meds are always a last resort imo. good luck

Agree that the Oscar may just be in a transition stage due to the new home. If you decide you want some "friends" for him...you could throw in some "dither" fish. Tiger-barbs or Tin-Foil barbs.

FYI...I do have an Oscar and a Green-Terror in a 75...and they get along great. But with agressive fish...you never know with individual personalities.

I've got a little albino bristle nose Pleco but the female convict probably run into problems. And yes I'm all freshwater. I'm going to just do water changes and if his fins don't improve I'll start the meds.
