Maybe it might work but I know plenty of members who would advise against it.

yes i guessed that when i saw you are from uk. its cool tho i appreciate the comments

well putting my calico convict male with the oscar helped. it still has its moments were it lays down on its side but es starting to swim around the tank and looking at the water surface for food. him nd the convict are getting along good together

No probs , perhaps try few catfish like others suggested , they mite hide away a lot though and he'll still be bored , convicts mite work there hard enough once Oscar gets big though few mite go missing lol , id try another cichlid personally and perhaps a plec to clean up a bit

my oscar lays on his side if he doesn't have something that provides overhead coverage for him. not only driftwood/plastic plants- but even when I remove the back dark canopy :-/

yeah im going to put my 10" sun cat with him now i know he"ll be ok with tankmates. my convict is brave i give him that. the oscar was cruising behind him. the con went thru the cave came around and challenged the O. i also added some places the con can fit in the are to small for the O so if a fight does break out he can take cover.

There hard as nails mate I've got two in with much bigger cichlids at the min they hold there own no prob as long as they've got somewhere to retreat
